Hundreds dead in Iran; children among the victims
At least 926 people have been killed in joint U.S. and Israeli attacks on Iran since February 28, Iranian Ministry of Health reported. Among the casualties are many civilians, including children, according to the ministry’s figures published by Anadolu Agency.
Ministry spokesperson Hossein Kermanpur stated that 6,186 people were injured in the strikes carried out between Saturday and Wednesday, March 4, by 5 p.m. local time (1:30 p.m. GMT).
In a statement posted on the social media platform X, Kermanpur said that 2,054 of the injured are currently receiving hospital treatment, while 3,545 have been discharged after receiving care. Another 552 injured people were treated on site.
He added that 502 surgical operations have been performed on the injured so far.
Among the victims is a one-year-old child
According to ministry data, women make up 13 percent of those killed, while men account for 87 percent.
Kermanpur also emphasized that 180 of the dead were under 18 years old, including three children younger than five. The youngest victim is a one-year-old child from Tehran.
Among the injured, 301 are under 18 years old, including 39 children younger than five. The youngest injured person is a six-month-old boy, while the oldest is a 91-year-old man.
