Putin rejects U.S. plan? Kremlin responds
The claim that Russian President Vladimir Putin has rejected the U.S. peace plan for Ukraine would be incorrect, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said today.
“One part of the Ukraine plan was accepted during the talks between Putin and WitkofF, while another part was deemed unacceptable. This is a working process,” Peskov said, adding that the more quietly the negotiations are conducted, the more productive they will be, RIA Novosti reports.
He also stated that Russia hopes the U.S. side will adhere to the principle of discretion during the negotiations on a resolution.
The Kremlin spokesman added that a phone conversation between Putin and U.S. President Donald Trump is possible.
“A phone conversation is possible at any time. There is a possibility for it to be organized operationally,” Peskov said.
Yesterday’s talks between Russian President Vladimir Putin and U.S. Special Envoy Steve Witkoff were useful, constructive, and significant, Putin’s advisor Yuri Ushakov said earlier.
He added that the conversation “did not last five minutes, but five hours,” RIA Novosti reports.
“We discussed several options for ending the war in Ukraine. We agreed with our American colleagues not to disclose the content of the talks. The conversation was confidential,” Ushakov said.
