A Palestinian official told Reuters that Hamas's response was "positive and should help reach an agreement."

According to a Gaza ceasefire proposal seen by Al Jazeera, US President Donald Trump would guarantee Israel's commitment to the ceasefire for the agreed-upon duration of the ceasefire.

The proposal envisages the release of ten live hostages held by Hamas in Gaza, as well as the return of the bodies of 18 deceased from the "list of 58".

Hamas, according to the ceasefire proposal, would release the eight hostages alive on the first day and hand over the bodies of the five dead on the seventh day of the ceasefire.

Five more bodies of hostages are due to be handed over by Hamas on the 30th day of the ceasefire, two live hostages are to be handed over on the 50th day of the ceasefire and eight more bodies of hostages are to be handed over on the 60th day of the ceasefire.

The ceasefire proposal also implies that humanitarian aid will be sent to Gaza immediately after Hamas approves it.

The agreement will ensure the arrival of aid in sufficient and intensive quantities, as in the agreement of January 19, and aid will be distributed through agreed channels, including through the United Nations and the Palestinian Red Crescent.

Israel and Hamas have been in conflict in the Gaza Strip since October 2023, and Hamas invaded southern Israel when, according to Israeli data, about 1,200 people were killed and 251 hostages were kidnapped, while according to Palestinian sources, more than 56,000 Palestinians have been killed in the Gaza Strip since then.

Earlier today, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced that they are currently in operational control of about 65 percent of the Gaza Strip, following intensified military operations across the Palestinian territory.

Over the past week, Israeli forces have eliminated more than 100 Hamas operatives, including senior commander Hakham Al-Issa, The Times of Israel reports.

The UN agency for Palestine refugees (UNRWA) announced today that 85 percent of the territory of Gaza is currently under the militarized zones of the Israeli army (IDF) or is under forced evacuation orders.
