And, here's Angela speaking: It's true...
Former German Chancellor Angela Merkel said that migration cannot be reduced by controls at the German borders.

"I do not believe that we can finally fight against illegal migration on the German-Austrian or German-Polish border. I have always advocated for European solutions," said the former German chancellor, who is often considered the most responsible for the huge influx of migrants to Germany.
"The truth is that this is taking a very long time. We must focus on the protection of the external borders. Everything else, if it becomes a permanent state, will eventually cost us Schengen, that is, freedom of movement within the European Union," Merkel said at the gathering where she read an excerpt from her book Freedom in front of an audience of 900 people, reports Welt.
She stated that she knows many people who no longer travel to Szczecin, Poland, because the border controls are "too inconvenient".
"I am in favor of European solutions, because otherwise we could see the destruction of Europe, and I don't want that. And I hope that the new federal government doesn't want that either," the former chancellor said.
Border controls with Austria have been in force since 2015. Also, a very restrictive plan was recently proposed in Germany in terms of providing solutions to asylum seekers.
Moreover, according to the same plan, Germany could introduce rigorous border controls to curb the large influx of migrants into the country.
