The "beast from Europe" is coming
The National Weather Service (Met Office) has issued its forecast for the Easter period. The "Beast from Europe" will cover parts of the United Kingdom with snow in ten days, writes the Daily Star.
Winter in the middle of spring will begin around six o'clock in the morning on Holy Saturday and last until Easter Monday at noon. Express refers to the prognostic model WXCharts and writes that in that 54-hour period the temperatures will drop sharply, and the northern regions of Scotland - Aberdeen, Inverness, Fort William, Ullapool and Wick - will be the first to be hit by snow.
After that, a drastic change in weather will reach other parts of the country. Northern England will thus wake up to temperatures of minus four degrees Celsius on Easter.
Showers are expected
The National Weather Service (Met Office) has also announced its forecast for the Easter period.
"In most areas, it will be dry and sunny with weak winds. However, in some places in the far north, it will be cloudier and windier with occasional light rain or drizzle," according to the forecast, reports Net.hr.
"After that, a change to more unsettled weather is likely, with Atlantic frontal systems from the west or showers from the south moving across the UK. A wetter period is expected with showers and rain and some heavy thunderstorms until mid-April," the forecast added.
