Uproar over the vote for Ukraine in a European country; "The same as for the so-called Kosovo..."

Slovak Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced this country's vote for the UN resolution condemning Russian aggression against Ukraine reflects the principled position of the Government, similar to the case of non-recognition of the so-called independent Kosovo.

Slovak ministry spoke out after some parties of the ruling coalition criticized this decision.

"Our position is absolutely principled, as in the case of Slovakia's non-recognition of Kosovos independance, because we consider it a violation of international law and the territorial integrity of Serbia," the Slovak Ministry announced yesterday.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Slovakia reminded that 93 UN member states approved the resolution, which is a possible compromise proposal aimed at emphasizing respect for international law, the inviolability of borders and territorial integrity.

They added that these principles are fundamental for Slovakia, Ukrainska Pravda reports.

On Monday, 93 UN member states voted in favor of a resolution submitted by Ukraine and European countries, which condemns Russian aggression and demands the withdrawal of Russian troops from Ukrainian territory.

Eighteen countries, including the US, Russia, Hungary and Israel, voted against the document.

The Slovak National Party, a member of the ruling coalition, demanded an apology from Prime Minister Robert Fico for supporting the resolution of the UN General Assembly.
