Resolution on Ukraine adopted
The General Assembly of the United Nations adopted today a resolution drafted by Ukraine and its European allies to mark the third anniversary of the Russian attack on Ukraine.
The resolution was passed with 93 votes "in favour", 65 abstentions and 18 votes "against", reports Reuters.
The resolution was prepared by Ukraine in cooperation with more than 50 countries, RIA Novosti reported.
The USA abstained, and Washington in turn prepared its own, neutral resolution, which will also be voted on by the General Assembly today.
The resolution demands that Moscow "immediately, completely and unconditionally" withdraw all its armed forces from Ukrainian territory.
The resolution also contains a unilateral call to the Russian Federation to end hostilities, the Russian agency announced.
At the same time, as stated by RIA Novosti, "Kyiv's terrorist attacks on peaceful citizens of the Russian Federation, as well as the presence of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Kursk region", are not condemned or mentioned in the draft resolution in any way.
The text also does not mention the right of peoples to self-determination, as contained in the UN Charter, adds the Russian agency.
Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine on February 24, 2022 to, as it stated, carry out the demilitarization and denazification of Ukraine.
