Regulation signed – Trump wiped them off the map
President of the United States of America, Donald Trump, has signed an executive order declaring February 9 as "Gulf Day", according to a statement from the White House.

"Today it is my great honor to proclaim February 9, 2025 as the first ever Gulf Day," the White House said in a statement released Monday.
It is recalled that on January 20, Trump signed an order on "restoring names that honor American greatness", which requires appropriate measures to be taken to "rename the area of the US continental shelf bounded on the northeast, north and northwest by the states of Mississippi and Louisiana, extending to Florida, Louisiana and the borders with Mexico and Cuba in the area formerly called the Gulf of Mexico."
"I took this action in part because, as noted in that order, the area formerly known as the Gulf of Mexico has long been an integral part of our once-growing nation and remains an indelible part of America," the statement said.
The statement from the White House states that Trump "was on his first visit to the American Gulf since its renaming".
"As my administration restores American pride in the history of American greatness, it is fitting and right that our great nation come together and mark this momentous occasion and the renaming of the American Gulf," the US president said.
He called on American officials and all US citizens to mark this day with appropriate programs, ceremonies and activities.
