To Budapest for under 30 euros: Ticket price and train travel details
Regular freight traffic on the Budapest–Belgrade railway began with a train departure from Budapest, while passenger services are expected to start at the end of March, featuring reduced travel time and a direct connection to Vienna.
Regular freight rail traffic on the Budapest–Belgrade line began a few minutes past midnight with the departure of a MAV train from Budapest, marking the completion of the testing and renovation phase of this important international route.
It was noted that after freight traffic stabilizes, regular passenger rail services are expected to be established, which, according to announcements, could begin at the end of March.
The renovated line, known as Line 150, represents one of the largest railway investments in Hungary in recent years. Instead of the old single-track line of lower quality, a modern double-track railway has been built, designed for speeds of up to 160 kilometers per hour.
Passenger traffic Belgrade–Budapest: Ticket around 25–26 euros
It has been noted that border controls will be kept to a minimum and carried out during the journey, so they will not significantly affect travel time.
The ticket price will be around 25 to 26 euros.
The restoration of passenger services will significantly shorten travel time between Belgrade and Budapest, facilitate passenger movement, and further improve connectivity between Serbia and Hungary.
It was highlighted that once the line is open, passengers will be able to travel from Novi Sad to the center of Budapest in two hours and five minutes.
The modernized section is expected to contribute to greater comfort, increased safety, and more reliable rail transport between the two capitals.
The current ticket price for travel with a transfer is 32 euros. Two daily departures are planned, providing flexibility in travel planning, and passengers will also have a direct rail connection to Vienna via Budapest.
This new line not only reduces travel time and increases comfort but also facilitates international travel to Central Europe, making rail a practical alternative for business travelers and tourists.
