Alongside Minister of Culture Nikola Selaković, those charged in this case include Slavica Jelača, acting Secretary of the Ministry of Culture; Goran Vasić, acting Director of the Republic Institute for the Protection of Cultural Monuments; and Aleksandar Ivanović, acting Director of the Institute for the Protection of Cultural Monuments of the City of Belgrade.

Let us recall that recently, Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić spoke about this case while appearing on the morning program of Blic TV.

At that time, Vučić mentioned that he had done nothing against the people or the state.

“It is my role to point out immorality, while other state bodies should do their job. Those around the General Staff are prosecuting people who did not take a single dinar. I’m just saying that this is my idea, and I have done nothing against the people or the state. This way we would have a ruin. I have no problem with that; I take full responsibility. I have absolute responsibility and I am waiting for them to file charges against me; I will pardon everyone, I will just take responsibility. They say I criticized these two women from the Institute for the Protection of Cultural Monuments—I did. I do not try to please anyone. The only place where these people erred, I do not understand why they did not immediately go for a lex specialis. I am proud of everything I have done. Support for Belgrade Waterfront was 27 percent, now it is 76 percent. Brave people must face the critics,” Vučić stated.
