Students block RTS and RTV; The main entrance was unblocked by the quick action of the police PHOTO/VIDEO
Students are still blocking the RTS buildings in Takovska Street and Košutnjak, as well as the RTV building in Novi Sad.
As reported by the media, the main entrance to RTV and RTS was unblocked without the use of force with the quick and decisive action of the police. The action took place between 4:20 a.m. and 4:40 a.m.
In front of the RTS building in Takovska this morning, a small group of students is blocking, and the traffic in Takovska street is functioning.
They started the blockade last night around 10 p.m., and they announced the blockade on social networks when it had already started.
The students blocking RTS stated that the protest will last "until a new competition for REM is announced or until RTS is shut down", while the students in the blockade in Novi Sad announced a 24-hour blockade of RTV.
Students blocking RTS in Takovska announced that they would stay in front of the building in shifts, and during the night they made noise with whistles and vuvuzelas.
They stated that the blockade would last as long as they could stand it.
RTS asked the students to end the blockade of public service facilities, stressing that blocking facilities and preventing public service employees from doing the work for which they are legally responsible represents unacceptable pressure.
In the statement published on the RTS website, it was stated that the reason for the ongoing blockade is the intention to shut down RTS and that this represents violence and illegal behavior.
It is emphasized that in all its programs, on television, radio and the Internet portal, RTS regularly publishes all important information for the citizens of Serbia, including news about student blockades.
