Djedović: A revised proposal from MOL has arrived
Serbia’s Minister of Mining and Energy, Dubravka Djedović Handanović, said a revised proposal from Hungarian company MOL regarding the takeover of the Russian stake in NIS arrived late last night, but that the Serbian side is still not satisfied with solutions
She also said that the main sticking point in the negotiations concerns the future operation of the refinery. As she explained, the key issue relates to market coverage from the output of the refinery in Pančevo.
“We will not compromise our security of supply, nor the impact that the refinery’s operation has on the economy and industry. The negotiations continue today and tomorrow. We want to reach a compromise, but not at any cost,” she said, according to a statement from the ministry.
Djedović Handanović added that talks between MOL and Gazprom Neft are also continuing in parallel, stressing that it is important for those negotiations to be concluded as well, so that the U.S. Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) can provide its opinion and make a final decision.
