Confirmed: This company is in the race for NIS
Talks are underway regarding the possibility that the Hungarian oil and gas company MOL could acquire a stake in the Serbian NIS, Hungarian Prime Minister’s Chief of Staff Gergely Gulyás said today.
He stated that if an agreement is reached, the transaction would be a “normal market operation,” but emphasized that talks are still in the early stages, Reuters reports.
He added that it is in NIS’s interest to end Russian ownership and that one option is for the Hungarian MOL to take a larger role.
Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó announced yesterday in Belgrade, after a meeting with Serbia’s Minister of Mining and Energy Dubravka Djedović Handanović, that MOL will increase oil exports to Serbia 2.5 times, and said that Hungary will use all available means to help the country with oil supply, media reports stated.
