"Looks like Serbia has a win. ITU doesn't say Kosovo is a republic. Look at the list. "Slovenia (republic of) but kosovo*. Doesn't say Kosovo is a republic."

ITU doesn't have to specify whether Kosovo is a republic, monarchy, or any other constitutional form of state organization. ITU keeps international calling codes, and just gave Kosovo a country calling code. The rest is irrelevant.

And "temporary authorisation" is a stretch of the imagination. What are they going to do? Revoke a license just because?

Thin arguments Gjon. Neither of which are going to get Kosovo any closer to being taken seriously as a sovereign state. Believe what you want to believe if it makes you happy.

Beliving is for ignorants. I dont belive. I read. I observe. I know.

UIT clearly says international. EU clearly says temporary. Now you do with that info what ever you want*

You asked for source, the man provided it, and:

Code = international
Telecom company deal = temporary

Now, you belive what you want too, but you just made a fool of yourself.

Read it. Kosovo comes with an asterisk. I also see a number of other non-sovereign territories and regions on that list with their own dialing code.

Another example of a ridiculous euphemism being used by serbia but wont be used by anyone else in the world. It is a country code. Serbia agreed that kosovo will have a country code and that kosovo is an independent nation. Serbia constitution doesn't reflect this yet so they have to use euphemisms to avoid being charge with treason but serbia acts every day to further kosovo independence for eu membership. Border guards- boundary officers, customs-stamps, ambassador- liaison officer. This is ridiculous. No one dumb enough to believe these euphemisms. Another one is daughter company for foreign subsidiary which is relevant to this.

Hey gjon would you mind explaining why you didn't provide any links in your comment? Is it because you forgot when you got excited to see something that confirmed your beliefs and it was an honest mistake, or is it because what you're quoting from was more than a year old and a year out of date?

Based on available information, it seems the only one calling a cat a dog is you.

Ya, your state Serbia was gracious enough to apply for Kosovo-Metohija to have a special calling code based on a geographic region, not a country. This code allows Serbs from central Serbia to call their families in Kosovo-Metohija the same exact way that people from Belgrade call their families in Novi Sad. You're welcome for this, be good or no more favors from your country. This is Serbia's calling code that it lent out and can take away!

Again, both side use it for propaganda:

It doesn't 'strengthen the international entity of Kosovo' as Edita Tahiri was saying, and it wasn't 'assigned to Kosovo as a geographic, rather than an international area' as Mr Marko Duric stated.

The truth is: The dial code was assigned to Kosovo*, i.e. the disputed territory of Kosovo in line with UN1244 and the opinion of the ICJ and the usual blabla which is needed when you want to legally correctly refer to Kosovo.

Having to do your own work for you, I copy/pasted your quotes and the only thing I came up with was a Telecom Action Plan from 25 August 2015, with the quoted material included as an Annex at the end - an annex that two annexes down, explains Kosovo with an asterisk.

You sure you know what you're doing there? Because there isn't any official statement on ITU's main page.

You also want to provide information where the EU says MTS gets only a temporary license? Because the last I or anyone paying attention to this deal heard, MTS gets a full license to operate throughout all of Kosovo - a license that was reported a few weeks ago in Koha Ditore that effectively called this one of the most hollow victories for Kosovo* to date with Serbia.

The link I provided below was misdirected. I wanted to show it being on Kosovo's main web page, but I suppose the European External Action Service will have to do regarding Kosovo's Telecom Action Plan of 2015 - not December 2016.

The official announcment of ITU says:

",...the Director of TSB has assigned the following international codes to Kosovo:

E.164 Code (as defined in Recommendation ITU-T E.164 section 4.1): 383
E.212 Code (as defined in Recommendation ITU-T E.212 section 3.3): 221"

Gjurko can call a dog a cat but it says "international codes" not "geographic codes". Then there is the EU official announcement saying that MTS d.o.o gets only a temporary authorisation issued by Kosovo Telecomunication Regulatory Authority.

I really don't understand why Kosovo needs unique calling code instead of using '+355' of Albania. US and Canada both uses '+1' without any problem. This should have worked in this case too. It's practical as well.
