Gjakova and surroundings are almost 50% catholics. Like myself. You could tell from my name if you would really be an Albanian

Gjon Marku, what does it matter? Catholic or Orthodox Albanian is no different to a Muslim one. You guys keep telling us that all the time. You keep saying how being Albanian is more important than the religion.
So Catholics being in the majority are then just as dangerous to non Albanians.

Donkey logic. Yes serbs stole their own building that supposedly albaians/narnians/kosovars built way back when, what a joke. Thats the problem with you people you can do no wrong, if that building was not guarded it would be destroyed by barbaric savages and then you would blame serb MUP. Youre a joke on the world stage, Albania is a huge dump unlike any other in europe and you want to govern another territory? Laughable, if it wasnt so sad how you destroy and attempt to re-write history at every turn. btw im Croatian and we dont like you much here either

Reading all the comments here, I wonder how the Decani monastery is connected with all the killings of Albanians by Serb paramilitaries. Did the monks there join then? Did the monks provide accommodation for them? I know about the Serbian priests who consecrated tanks in Belgrade. Or is it a case of collective guilt, i.e. 'the monks are Serbs, Serbs killed my family members, the Serb monks have no rights to be there?'

Comm. Parrisson

pre 7 godina

"Do you want to take away their freedom of speech and the right to protest? It wouldnt be the first time you know. Show those albanians a strong hand. To put them on place. Is that what you want?"
(Gjon Marku, 26 May 2016 15:11)

No, everyone can protest. The bad thing is that these protests are sparked even by politicians, which should be rational instead and calming down instead of inciting the mob even more against a ruling of the highest court. Especially in this case. In the (for me very likely) case that there will be attacks and vandalizing in the future, the perpetrators will think that they do right and have support by everyone. Seems to be hard to understand for someone who obviously thinks tear gas in the assembly is a means of 'right to protest'.

And now that you mentioned the chain of courts, the end is reached. In a democracy, it's normal to accept things the majority decides, not to mention final court rulings. You cannot always get your wishes fulfilled, it's something that you have to learn, too, it seems. Or is it a symptom that some people seem to have problems with property rights at all, and think they can take what they want? Anyway, it's Kosovo, another example.

I can appreciate the sensitivities, but this is an anti-Western, anti-liberal mindset that is conveniently constructed to achieve a political goal that is not in line with 1244 or any measure of Western intervention.

The definition of "justice" in Kosovo seems to differ from that in the rest of the world: "Justice means we're always right, eternally, because of our national identity." That's a pretty stunted, dangerous, and self-defeating way to live. Good luck, guys - you'll need it.

(Donkey Hoxha, 26 May 2016 16:45)

Its hard as the one leading them is a war criminal, but unfortunatlly all Serbian citizens of Gjakova wore mask so did Marko my neighbor in street SUP- and his grandpa Blaza. My city has been the most effected city during the war, I live near SUP and I was kicked out, we had to pay paramilitaries to let us live and the only reason was my father's co-worker interveaned ( so there are few good ones). Marko lived with his mom in Beograd parents divorced but he returned to steal and God knows murder.

We have many people still missing so its hard to see those same people come back without an apology, and returning the bodies to get married. Qerkezi family lost 4 boys and the father, non of them were fighting or had anything to do with UCK.

Do you know how we call this in Albania? Typical reply from a pederast this is how we call this! I made you a direct question. Where were you during the war and what were you doing? Why didn’t you defend Gjakova’s girls? I was a teenager but I wanted to come there and fight for you. Then my mother said that I would have gone there only when all adult men form Kosovo had to die in the war and she didn’t let me go.

Writing in magazines is your business? You’d better change business because if you go on writing wherever editors let you write, you will cover all of us with shame. Because Serbs editors will always let you write, you can bet! Ask for a feedback from real close friend, maybe girlfriend, this is Skenderbeu’s advice. Maybe you belong to the Roma community and you are ashamed and are calling yourself an Albanian? Why don’t you say you belong to Roma community? Maybe you are Bulgarian? Do you know Russian and why did you go to Russia? Who pays you? Who paid your trip to Russia? How many times have you been to Russia? Do you know Serbian language?

(Donkey Hoxha, 26 May 2016 20:04)

No problem with that. I believe in justice and accountability above all. As long as justice is not served, reconciliation is not possible. Before anyone can come back, even if its just for a visit, lets address the elephant in the room first and then work our way out from there. I wish it wouldnt be that way but thats just how it is.

You see, I dont want to convince you about anything. I`m just reporting. As a witness. What you make out of it is entirely up to you.

But maybe, just maybe, when you have a moment, just one little moment of silence, try and ask yourself. How would you feel and react if your family was killed and your city was burned to the ground. Would you accept me if I would just show up, without apologizing or explaining myself? Acting like nothing happened.

Of course the right to free speech and protest is guaranteed.

However one notes an abundance of such activities, often organized, which seek to objectify and dehumanize this minority group making their survival in Kosovo impossible.

In the West, this is not protected by free speech or protest and is categorized as a hate crime that often requires federal intervention.

Serbian state broadcaster RTS reported earlier in the day that organizers said the protest would be peaceful - "ut that "experience teaches that any gathering of Albanians motivated by inter-ethnic relations can turn violent."

Why didn’t you defend Gjakova’s girls? I was a teenager but I wanted to come there and fight for you. Then my mother said that I would have gone there only when all adult men form Kosovo had to die in the war and she didn’t let me go.

What a funny 'country' where the Constitutional court has to decide about something simple as property rights of people and institutions. And what a sad 'country' where not only extremists, but politicians (majors, MPs) too are not willing to accept a ruling issued by their own highest court (not a Serbian court) and start protesting. Well, at least this time the protest didn't become violent, as it is the usual case in the democratic, multi-ethnic dream state of Kosovo.

A multilevel jurisdiction system with a Constitution Court or High Court as last instance is every democratic countries basic. Everyone can bring any case in front of it if he`s/she`s does not agree with a decision made on municipality level.

We have many people still missing so its hard to see those same people come back without an apology, and returning the bodies to get married. Qerkezi family lost 4 boys and the father, non of them were fighting or had anything to do with UCK.

No problem with that. I believe in justice and accountability above all. As long as justice is not served, reconciliation is not possible.
