Serbia has plenty of reason to be involved in Montenegro
44% of Montenegrin's consider themselves Serbian and not Montenegrin.
(factman, 11 February 2016 03:42)

Albania has plenty of reason to be involved in Serbia since many Serbs consider themselves Albanian and not Serb.
----------

Montenegrin's speak the Serbian language since there is no recognized Montenegrin language on this earth
(factman, 11 February 2016 03:42)

Well, if it's the same language, that means that both statements are true: Montenegro speaks Serbian and Serbia speaks Montenegrin lol. Nobody has appointed Serbia as the global authority on language recognition.
----------

When history books are written in 100 years the breakup of Yugoslavia and all this nonsense will take 1-2 paragraphs, while the statements above will always be true.
(factman, 11 February 2016 03:42)

What a shame that we won't be around to read those wonderful books lol
----------

They'll do it again and join a Serbian-Montengrin Confederation. They will do it out of economic necessity as Serbia continues to balloon up economically, and they'll be happier for it.
(factman, 11 February 2016 03:42)

I doubt that Montenegro would want to join a failed state like Serbia who can't even properly feed its own children
----------

Serbs in Montenegro should take part in the time honored democratic tradition of civil disobedience.

Why?! So that they can cure your hurt feelings :)

I am surprised that Serbs are concern about the welfare of people of Montenegro.
People there have made their decision, they become independent and will join NATO.
They have the same right to join NATO, as Serbia to be neutral or not to join NATO. So stop whining
===…==
Then they can go to Tirana or 'Kosova' for their education and health issues.
Serbia doesn't have to offer it to them.
(Peggy, 12 February 2016 10:15)

Sure, nobody has forced Serb politicians to be idiots and provide education and health care to Montenegrins in exchange for Montenegro not to join NATO while Serb children can't be properly fed.

Nobody says that Russia fears NATO. There are other reasons why we want them to escape the trap :

1/ Despite the last decades Montenegrins are as close to us as the Serbs.
2/ We need a corridor for our troops and goods to Serbia including Kosovo.
3/ We need a corridor to Bosnia, Croatia, Hungary ect.
4/ We need the Bondsteel Base.

As simple as that !
(rote, 11 February 2016 12:19)

You do not NEED a corridor. You WANT a corridor. There is a big difference there. Russia has done fine without a corridor and that shows that it doesn't NEED it.Now when you WANT it and you're doing the impossible to get something you WANT that is what expansionism is. So you can spare us all the other BS.

It's funny how Serbs from Serbia and the Serb minority in Montenegro jump up and down every time Montenegro enforces its independent will.

Montenegro is rarely an example of a country to follow, but I give them one thing, they are manning up to their principles and not being a whore like Serbia - "torn between East and West".

Serbia has plenty of reason to be involved in Montenegro

44% of Montenegrin's consider themselves Serbian and not Montenegrin.

Montenegro has no hospital system of its own, but uses Serbia's hospital system

Montenegro's kids attend Serbian Universities, since Montenegro has no universities.

Montenegrin's speak the Serbian language since there is no recognized Montenegrin language on this earth

Montenegrin's are baptized, go to Sunday School, get married, and are buried in Serbian Orthodox churches.

Montenegrin youth immigrate to Belgrade for opportunity and marry Serbian spouses.

Montenegro's greatest poet and historical figure said Montenegrins are Serbs.

All of this current nonsense is temporary. One needs to look at the big picture over 50-60 years and not temporary Djjukanovic.

The real question is, how Montenegro becoming a NATO member is NATO getting close to Russia's borders? There's plenty of other NATO countries between Russia and Montenegro, unless Lavrov had a Freudian slip and considered Montenegro for a moment to be Russian territory. In that case NATO's argument about wanting to stop Russian aggression makes total sense, and Lavrov's mouth diarrhea is total nonsense.

I am surprised that Serbs are concern about the welfare of people of Montenegro.
People there have made their decision, they become independent and will join NATO.
They have the same right to join NATO, as Serbia to be neutral or not to join NATO. So stop whining...

Secondly I have seen time after time in this forum that Serb and Russian commentators approach to Albanians using the word "shiptari" in derogatory manner.
Although Albanians commentators sometimes are as fierce as Serbian ones, they never have used the word "shkie" in singular or "shkijet" in plural, which are Albanian words derogatory to describe Serbians or "muzhik" which Albanians use, when they want to insult Russians.

In the other words, until Serbian commentators will use only the word Albanian-s when they discus about Albanians (not Muslim Albanian-s because it is an insult too) and not "Shiptari",I am going to bring this subject up in this forum.

As for Montegegro,
Welcome to the Western Military Alliance!

With NATO, some countries have joined by referendum, but most have joined with their elected representatives making those decisions. It's not up to foreign countries to determine how an independent and sovereign country makes its decision to join or not join NATO. Montenegro is joining NATO and there is nothing Russia can do about it.

And you'll be terrified Bob, how many innocent journalists died Bobby? Bobby, you gotta read a lot buddy... On a happier note, why Lavrov's words sound like music to my ears? Montenegrins please, seriously now, you have to insist for a referendum to be held on this complicated issue ;)

It's true Montenegro has not forgotten NATO aggression. The Montenegrin gov't knows this and that's why they are scared of a free and democratic referendum on NATO membership. I visit Montenegro often as it's the place I was born. I have not met one person in their right minds who said they wish for NATO membership so that they could go out into the Middle East deposing secular regimes in favor of Islamist ones. No thanks.

And another thing, Montenegro ks a sovereign state buddy. I feel bad fir these clowns 7f they give in to serb and russian bullying again.
(rotethedrunk, 10 February 2016 14:30)

Yugoslavia was sovereign too..didn't stop the U.S. from illegally(according to their OWN constitution and the UN charter)bombing..

If Russians are begging ME like this it mean that they need desperately to have a base in Adriatic.
Montenegrins know very well, that they will be second citizen in their own country then.., and they would have to "taste" a war with Serbia and with Russia then to take their own country back. And MNE is a small... and i think they're more safe in EU and NATO side. They did the most smartest choice!
(Joni, 10 February 2016 13:04)

the U.S. desperately needed a base in the balkans for 50 years...oh wait..they built it!!, without permission and illegally.. that's much better then asking. Don't worry, kosovo will see the ramifications of dealing with a the U.S. that only needs you, when they need you. Once your usefulness is not needed, you will end up like...Afghanistan, Panama, Chile, actually take your pick of central and south american countries...the list goes on and on...

To Peter the Rock,
Yugoslavia had Germany's (Marx) ideology in the last century, and Ukrainian's ,and Georgian's (Stalin,Khrushchev, Brezhnev ,etc) aswell, not Russian!
To Lj,
Italy, and Germany where forced after the war to join NATO ,with their puppet leader's run by USA in the 1950's,and the population didn't vote for that! You sat comfortable in your home not getting bombed.
To Bob,
Montenegro population and infrastructure was bombed ,killed and destroyed. But you never had to live in that environment, as you sat comfortable in a Western Country, and don't judge.

The Russian's are looking at a naval base in Montenegro, for purpose to access through out Mediterranean sea.The Serb's and Chinese in partnership want to buy Ports in Montenegro, and have a fast cargo train connecting to Belgrade, and then Europe ,which is in progress.

J : The real question is, how Montenegro becoming a NATO member is NATO getting close to Russia's borders?

Nobody says that Russia fears NATO. There are other reasons why we want them to escape the trap :

1/ Despite the last decades Montenegrins are as close to us as the Serbs.
2/ We need a corridor for our troops and goods to Serbia including Kosovo.
3/ We need a corridor to Bosnia, Croatia, Hungary ect.
4/ We need the Bondsteel Base.

As simple as that !

s was Milosevic and his violent nationalistic chronies that got bombed.

Not Montenegrans.

I think that's what they really remember.
(Bob, 10 February 2016 14:52)

NATO's bombs barely dented the Serbian army or its "cronies" but killed 1000 Serbian, Montenegrin and Albanian citizens. That's what is remembered and will soon not be forgotten.

To Theodore Muzaka,
It's not Shiptars, but Shqipire pronounce Shqipter, the name of the race of people ,that Britian and league of Nations rename after 1st world War,to Albania .THAT'S your history ,not Serb's. Under the Communist TITO,they where still called Shqiptars or Shqitare.
Even the Shqiptars, call themselves that name,in Pec,Pristina, London,Sydney, and Auckland ,today, etc.

When history books are written in 100 years the breakup of Yugoslavia and all this nonsense will take 1-2 paragraphs, while the statements above will always be true.

Montenegro was independent once before and let go of its independence to join Serbia. They'll do it again and join a Serbian-Montengrin Confederation. They will do it out of economic necessity as Serbia continues to balloon up economically, and they'll be happier for it.

Everything else is temporary politics. Comes and goes.

Serbs in Montenegro should take part in the time honored democratic tradition of civil disobedience.

Then they can go to Tirana or 'Kosova' for their education and health issues.
Serbia doesn't have to offer it to them.

Sure, nobody has forced Serb politicians to be idiots and provide education and health care to Montenegrins in exchange for Montenegro not to join NATO while Serb children can't be properly fed.
