Considering the UN has all but officially announced it will be seeking a female candidate for the position, Luksic has little to no chance of winning anyway. If there's anyone from the Balkans likely to win, it's Irina Bokova, but I'm pretty sure the position will go to someone in the Baltics instead.

"Serbia will not support Montenegro's candidate for the post of UN secretary-general, Serbian Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic has said.

Dacic made the statement for the Belgrade-based daily Danas, which writes on Wednesday that it came "as no surprise - considering that Montenegro recently voted in favor of Kosovo's admission to UNESCO."

What a childish foreign policy! Similar to putting the FYROM sign at the border with Macedonia. No wonder Serbia's foreign policy has achieved little, if anything, in regards to Kosovo.

Beside giving Ivica some spiritual pleasure, is Ivica able to explain how the above would help secure Montenegro's vote at the next voting regarding Kosovo?!

Instead, in a pragmatic foreign policy, Ivica would ask Montenegro for a deal. Serbia would support Montenegro's candidate for the UNSG, if Montenegro supports Serbia's position in regards to Kosovo in the next UNESCO vote.

I get though that is difficult for Serbia because Serbia sees other countries in the region as low forms of life that should just obey Serbia. Serbia can't see them as equal partners to do deals with...

Tit-for-tat diplomacy... Very un-diplomatic and extremely childish. Serbia deserves politicians of much higher calibre than this if it is to succeed. Hopefully 2016 will bring the necessary change.
