I challenge anyone here to deny that they haven't at least once thought that there is something truly wrong with our world. This entire Kosovo situation proves that the world is not right and that it needs to be corrected. When brothers vote against brothers for those who destroy what defines these brothers, you know that something stinks. It defies logic and sense. Who's in charge here!?

They may or may not be able to vote that is to be seen, but if they don't that is a single vote, but you know as well as I do they will provide at least 50 votes so what does it matter?
Of course Russia or China could have simply made up the loss of dues by the US but unfortunately UNESCO had to trim their budget by more than 25%.

Actually, the U.S. wont be able to vote for you next month because it hasn't paid its membership fees. And it's ironic given that they didn't vote for Palestine membership because they felt that direct negotiations were the way to peace, not through voting at the UN. Now, they don't think so. But the irony is the reason the U.S. hasn't paid its membership fees at UNESCO since membership of Palestine and that's why they can't vote for you. haha
(Ari Gold, 23 October 2015 17:31)

Serbia has never paid its membership fee to UNESCO. By your reasoning Serbia should not have the right to lodge a complaint. The U.S. can easily pay its dues before any vote is taken, thereby gaining the right to vote on Kosova membership. Serbia can't even come up with a few bucks to pay for room and board of Serbian students studying in Tirana.

Interesting how the most of historical cultural heritage in Kosovo is Serbian if it was always land of Albanians? :) Decani Monastery Charters from 14th c. register more then 13.000 names in western Kosovo (Metohia) in this period, more then 90% Slav origine. You can also reed Turkish censuses from medieval period, from which you see that Albanians became majority in Kosovo at the end of 19th century and it is well known in world history, but not between Albanian historians who constantly repeating fairy tales to their people. Only Decani Monastery documentation funds are big enough to clearly show the historical truth about medieval Kosovo, as well as period of Balcan and world wars period. The truth about new destruction of churches (more than 140) and cemeteries (more than 350) in Kosovo is that destruction happened not in war, but later in "peace".

This isn't anything new. There are many military and civilian personnel who served in Kosovo who know perfectly well what the local Albanian population are capable of. But they have been constrained by their superiors from speaking out. What's truly shameful is that since the conflict ended in 1999, the destruction, looting, desecration, and abuse goes on. One can understand these events occurring in the heat of battle. But to continue unabated for more than 15 years hence is appalling, and a grotesque indictment of the Albanian cultural mindset. And it is not just the fault of a few miscreants. It is a stain on the entire community for tolerating it. There is no excuse, and I'm afraid the comments of the primitives on this portal speak volumes.

The "history" peddled by KA's on this site is fabricated.

None of those who fabricate and peddle this gibberish are able to provide historical documents to back it up.

The only proof provided is superlatives like: "Always" or "Since the beginning."

These are weak arguments revealing a weak hand and offensive to those who are serious students of history or literature or the medeivel arts.

It lacks substance that would promote serious and ultimately healing discussion in this area of the world.

There is no desire for that healing discussion and we remain in a zero-sum game, and therefore the region will stay stuck in a frozen conflict, ultimately hurting generations of KA people who weren't even born when the hostilities took place and who will inherit the mess. Sad.

Questioner : Maybe it's the US fault, too , that ISIS blasted century old temples in Syria?

Of course not !

Because it wasn’t the US who set free all six leaders of ISIL (including Al Baghdadi) from the Abu Grave prison in Iraq. It wasn’t Senator McCain who made photos with Al Baghdadi two Years ago. And of course the Americans never armed or trained the ISIL though some 10 000 of the new terrorists trained in Jotdan abandoned the phantom SAA for ISIL. Just mention that they flew not in one night but as 50-60 well armed groups during 12 months. But the US kept on training new “freedom fighters” hoping that the new gangs will fight Assad as SAA but not as Al Qaedan Jabha an Nusra or ISIL. As a result 4-5 fight Assad within SAA and 10 000 as Nusra and ISIL. But the Yankees are innocent as a child’s tear. And of course the US planes never bombed the deserts of Syria or Kurds instead of ISIL. They never parachuted cargos to ISIL instead of the Kurds. The US found water on Mars last week but they fail to find the multiple caravans of the crude oil shipped to Turkey and Mediterranean. And of course they help the Russians to bomb ISIL now …

answer to your question

pre 8 godina

(Questioner, 23 October 2015 13:53)
Actually Kfor should have reacted quicker to help quell the violence from both sides. But the UN is at fault for allowing Serbia to keep Kosovo in a state of limbo for so long. The Albanians were liberated from the brutality of the Serbs but instead of trying to create an environment of development and show promise of a future, they just let the people stagnate in poverty while trying to be politically correct.
Once the bombs started dropping they should not have stopped until there was an unconditional surrender from Milosevic.
The one point that you and your fellow Serbs do not want anyone to focus on is that there was only 5 years difference in the 3 days of violence from the Albanians and the years of violence from the Serbs.
Yes the Albanians should show shame for they reacted no different than the Serbs who they had been rescued from.
As far as the destruction of Serb religious sites, there is no difference in that and the destruction of Albanian religious sites. Kosovo should not be held to a higher standard than Serbia.

Oh, now it is because of the UN that Kosovo Albanian mob looted and destroyed ancient cultural heritage in 2004? Maybe it's the US fault, too , that ISIS blasted century old temples in Syria?

No, it's the fault of the people who did it, i.e. the Albanian mob, and it's the fault of the propaganda outlets, i.e. Pristina media, who spread lies about some drunk Albanian kids. That's it. Today in Kosovo, churches and monasteries are still desecrated, and Kosovo authorities who are in charge of preventing that (i.e. the so-called KPS) look away when their clan mates are spraying graffity or are unfortunately 'on the other side of the building' when those things take place.

When the say in 2004, UN was in charge, do you want to say thet KFOR then should have reacted stronger, i.e. gunning down the looting Albanian mob instead of just trying to rescue Serbian monks from Albanians who wanted to burn or lynch them, and let the buildings getting destroyed?

Having watch your links Joni I fail to see the connection with UNESCO that was collateral damage in the war and yes the Dubrovnik thing is total hogwash as much of that video proves. If a serious assault had have been carried out, that city would have fallen just like that other Ustasi birds-nest Vukovar did, unless,of course, NATO had come to their rescue again. You appear to be suggesting that care of the mosques in Bosnia be given to the Bosnian Serbs and the city of Dubrovnik be looked after by the Montenegrins. That's the analogy I draw from your bizarre suggestion that Albanians look after Serbian sites of historical interest. I'm sure they have their own heritage sites in Albania. They certainly don't appear to have any in Kosovo which after all is still and will remain part of Serbia. Recognise it all you like.

If Serbs were the conquerors then they would have written that in their chronicles - as it happens in all medieval documents - that is a matter of honor. What I witnessed that supremacy-driven albanians are in fact very skillful liars - especially for naive western lefties - so continue as long as you can. Rocky please refer to the Ottoman Census of Kosovo in 1455. The Ottomans conducted this "defter" in what's today, roughly, the Serbian province of Kosovo. It found approx 13,000 Serbian houses in 480 villages,75 Vlach houses in 34 villages,46 just 46 Albanian homes in 23 villages,17 Bulgarian homes in 10 villages and less than a handful of Greek,Croatian and Jewish homes. All villages studied had Serbian names Those Albanian builders must have been awfully busy building Serbian monasteries as the figures show they were pretty thin on the ground.

Sad.

Great leadership knows how to get past these things and get to real things like making compromises with the neighbors you need.
