Armed U.S. soldiers en route to Ukraine stopped in Austria

This so wrong on so many counts. Little respect is shown by the US to its friends (in this case Austria's) norms and laws let alone international laws.

How odious can the US become - sending US soldiers fully kitted up with weapons onto civilian planes insidiously to Ukraine no doubt to enact war against Ukrainians in the east - killing civilians in the process!

How can US military with full weapons kit get onto a plane without US political and military complicity ? How many more tens & hundreds if not into the thousands of US military are on such insidious and clandestine operations in Ukraine or for that matter anywhere else in the world??? It explains why so much media bleating about Russian troops in Ukraine - cover up what the US is in reality doing!

The way I read the article that this is routine, what caused the issue is that apparently there was some problem with the connecting flight and therefore the soldiers had to change flights which caused a layover and the luggage had to be picked up.
It is quite common for military to fly commercial airlines with their weapons in "checked" luggage.
Similar to you can fly through a country without obtaining a visa as long as do not leave the secured section of the airport. But have a delay and try to check into a hotel and see what happens.
