UNESCO's moto "One Humanity beyond Diversity", apparently Serbia doesn't subscribe to that as it tries to exclude Kosova from the rest of the humanity.
This effort by Serbia has nothing to do with promoting culture, but it's a small minded political gesture. Dacic can write letters all he wants, at the end he will fail here as usual.

the likelyhood you'll find more Albanians having a critical view of our own issues is higher than an Albanian criticizing Serbia day in and day out.

Not here I'm afraid. Both sides seem pretty solid in pushing the official line of their side. People get introspective when there's no "other", and the further they are from the homeland, the more bombastic they get.

Maybe if the issue of Kosova didn't exist things would be perfectly normal and this meeting point of ours skews things negatively but this is the impression I get even with some of the rational Serb posters here.
(j, 28 July 2015 17:09)

Who knows? The Serbs and Albanians I know in Kosovo have seemed to have made their peace with the opposing side and agree to disagree if politics comes up. There may be hope yet!

In the end this is an opinion and opinions are like farts. Everyone has them.

The Internet would be a very pleasantly boring place without it :)

Did we almost just have a convergence of ideas? This site may very well crash as a result.

Um, you DO realize this is the comment section of the English language variant of a Balkan news portal that's been notorious for years for being the center of angry diaspora ranting, right? You DO know for every perceived self-righteous Serb judging from a far off IP address, there's an Albanian equivalent, right? Do you place yourself among them or are you that convinced everything you write is the epitome of moral rationalism?

You make some good points here but I don't agree with the equalization. Sure, both sides have their bat$hit crazies but the likelyhood you'll find more Albanians having a critical view of our own issues is higher than an Albanian criticizing Serbia day in and day out. I'm not sure that can be said about Serbs. Sure you see the futility in some of what your government does but the first instinct is to always point out the inadequacy of the Albanians. Maybe if the issue of Kosova didn't exist things would be perfectly normal and this meeting point of ours skews things negatively but this is the impression I get even with some of the rational Serb posters here. This is what I get when I meet Serbs. It comes across as lack of modesty. In the end this is an opinion and opinions are like farts. Everyone has them.

So of the 1000+ monuments, 200 or so belong to Serbian Orthodox Church not including the foundations of these monuments built on other cultural foundations, even tho the frescoes depict a population with a plis.

The majority of comments from individual Serbs here, including yours come from a place of total lack of humility, from a place where every move Albanians make is seen as totally irrational because we are somehow unable to think rationally and to know what's good for our own self, what constitutes progress for us and Kosova, as if we're unable for that high level of thinking. Meanwhile you as a Serb are totally rational and know what constitutes progress and what is good for us.

If you want to have an intelligent conversation between two people, bring it. I'm more than willing to take this particular subject and find a common middle ground. I already acknowledge preventing Kosovo from joining UNESCO is an act of futility by Belgrade so if they know they can't prevent a vote, they might as well work with the UN to designate what is part of Serbia, and what is part of Albanian Kosovo.

If you just want to engage in a good ol' pissing contest, I can do that too. Serbia stronk, KLA sucks. CCCC and all that sh!t.

What? The willingness to see this through rationally and not take whatever Pristina throws at the world at face value? Ok, guilty as charged. Did you even bother reading my comment since it clearly differentiates from Belgrade's official position?

Speaking of never meeting a certain type of people with humility...

It doesn't matter at all whether your opinion differentiates from a group of people in Belgrade. The lack of humility comes when you automatically come from a position that you know better, that you are the rational one and others are irrational. You judge yourself only by your own intentions, while judging others by their actions. Arrogance is only one of its side effects. There's nuances of this in just about every post the Serb posters make.

Serbs say one thing and do another thing. Few days ago (clueless) Serbian president said "Serbia is the only one that wants peace." Now they do the opposite.

The Brussels agreement is clear. Serbia can't oppose Kosovo In unesco. "No side can do anything to block or seek others to block the other in their eu path." Unesco is part of kosovos eu path.

Another fantastically orchestrated publicity stunt by the Land Beyond Belief to get Serbia to, once again, bargain away what it already has.

First, there are a number of key Serbian Orthodox churches in Kosovo already designated as UNESCO sites under Serbia's jurisdiction.

Second, if Kosovo is truly serious about appropriating these churches and other cultural landmarks, someone needs to hand them a copy of the Ahitsaari Plan, which forms the basis of their constitution and which specifically designates which areas are no-goes for the Ancient Illyrian peoples.

Third, if Israel couldn't prevent Palestine from joining UNESCO, there's little hope for Serbia in preventing Kosovo, so the best thing would be to get the international powers that give a damn about this to support the inclusion of UNESCO compromise in the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue, with Serbia clearly demarcating what's their's.

Kosovo can lay all the claim it wants to Hotel Victoria and the statue of Bill Clinton.
