Russians "could lose patience and ban fruit imports"

How sad. Because Serbia's gov't is completely invested into the EU, it isn't providing subsidies for Serbian farmers to use the acres of empty arable land and grow apples so that this huge void in the Russian market can be filled. Instead, two-bit hustlers in Serbia are repackaging Polish apples and risking Serbia's preferential trade deal with Russia.

Another missed opportunity due to handcuffs from the EU. The EU has no alternative as they say in the gov't. Even if that alternative is growth.

I doubt that it is the goal of this government to sabotage relations with Russia because if they do they are gone. Why go through all these lengths especially when the vast number of Serbs dislike the west?
Its opportunists that are probably buying up apples from Polish warehouses and trying to rebrand them. The quick buck as they say. I'm sure it will be resolved quickly and to the satisfaction of all.

Czar-Putin is a very nervous man today!!!

The worst part about this is that Russians gave Serbia 10 days for a clear confirmation. This is not how you tread someone you consider to be your brother. Russia is just showing her true color and anger when things do not go her way.

This has nothing to do with rotten apples nor "Orthodox unity". Russia has reciprocal sanctions on EU countries and does not want Polish companies to profit on the Russian market while these sanctions are in place. Some criminals are now importing Polish apples and repackaging them as being products of Serbia.

But the big problem is that Serbia isn't producing enough to meet these real demands in Russia. This shouldn't be the case because Serbia has enough arable land to feed millions of people outside its borders.

But EU has no alternative, so no subsidies to take advantage of this clear opportunity because that would upset Brussels. That's why its not about any cultural ties, but about Serbia's economic best interest.
