No of course not! Never any alternatives to the EU!! That's like trying to find an alternative to oxygen, it's impossible. The EU is the holy grail and every waking moment must be spent thinking about how great it will be once Serbia joins this cancerous union.

I think by the time Serbia joins the EU, they will have it all to themselves. Just Serbia and her masters in Brussels. Maybe Vucic can take over for Jean-Claude Juncker after his term is over to be President of the EU. It's an unelected position of course, so all you have to do is be a lapdog for the Commission and they will appoint you. In that regard, Vucic is well on his way!

As for gas vucic should rember it was the EU meddling that obstructed and created the block by Bulgaria to do as demanded of them by the not so wise EUSSR commisars and vucic clearly fails to comprehend the rightful Russian resolve to sell its Gas elsewhere when obstructions are placed in their way. Russians are not the ones who obstructed south stream - they just were not going to play the EU ball game and called the EU's bluff big time! Nor are the Russians blocking a solution for their gas to reach Serbia - just last week the Russians openly stated they want such a solution. Vucic fails to heed any understanding that if you play with fire you get burnt (again note well what happened because of Bulgaria towing the EU line) and talk of alternatives to Russian gas is playing with fire rather than forging a true solution of energy security with a true friend.

And what should they be called? Maybe Serb Croatians but they are citizens of Croatia not Serbia. As long as the Balkans continue to think exclusively by ethnic lines they have no future, or not one with peace in it.

It’s only part of the truth. For a more objective picture we have to remind that several Russian politicians and politologists also said that Serbia itself was creating obstacles for the SS. It was done not so open as in Bulgaria and they used other formal pretextes but it lasted all through 2014. One more thing is that Vucic has never said that de facto it was Brussels who stopped the project. Even the Bulgarians said it several times while according to Vucic logically Russia is the only guilty. But Russia cannot solve Serbia's supply problems over the air. In any case they problems cannot be solved separately from the rest of the continent. Be it Mongolian gas or American.

What a ridiculous comment he made! Serbia is desperate for its government to recognize Kosovo independence. B92 ipsos conducted a poll that said over 60% of Serbia says Kosovo is independent. Serbia voted and eliminated the party that put Kosovo in the constitution from parliament. Serbia has eliminated all Radicals and all nationalists from parliament. The Serbian parliament is unanimously for EU!

yes it seems all the more evident that Vucic govt over the last 3 years dragged their feet while spinning how progressive they are in all forms of infrastructure projects from south stream with Russian support to roads & tunnel through fruska gora and elsewhere with Chinese money and support. Its dire how this govt of so called "progressives" are squandering opportunities perhaps they should have kept the abreviation SRS though not Radical but Regressive!

Something tells me that Vucic and especially Dacic sold their souls long before the elections they have won. It was suspicious smooth that the Yankees agreed to set Tadic free. The only question is Nikolic whom I wouldn’t like to be disappointed in. Also I don’t trust Seselj as they would never set him free without a deal.

Serbia will be able to buy oil and gas from Albania in a few years. A substantial amount has been discovered in the last few years by a joint venture led by Shell. Parcels of land are currently being auctioned off to bidders from the West. In the mean time, Serbia can by coal from Kosovo which has huge deposits.

Well, but the appointers are elected by the EU citizens :) So, regardless of how you spin it, you need to convince, directly or indirectly, the EU citizens for your dear Vucic to get the position. The real enemies of both Serbia and Albania are poverty and corruption. You seem to think there are boogeymen from the West that are causing this. I do not agree. In Serbia's case this can be attributed to Russia. Putin is nobody's friend! Albanians think Rama is doing a good job whereas intelligent Serbs seem to be dissatisfied with Vucic and Dacic. Nikolic is, clearly, an embarrassment for Serbia. Longterm, the EU will be beneficial to all members if every member pulls their weight, this however, is a BIG "if". Also, 50 years of Communism, and Ottoman learned Inat have set back the Balkans immeasurably.
