Russia: Future gas route "must go via Serbia"

The EU will finance this new pipeline. Are they really going to route it through problematic Greece, and two non-EU member states (FYRM and Serbia), when they could easily route it through Bulgaria and Romania Instead?

It will be EU and not Russia that decides the route. I think it will be routed around Serbia with a spur provided for Serbian Gas supplies. I wouldn't be surprised if the EU built a pipeline around Serbia to Croatia and linked Serbian gas supplies to Croat gas. This would give Croatia significant power over Serbia.

Serbia needs to realise that it's energy future is in the hands of nations that hate Serbia and alternative energy supplies should be created. Serbia should encourage every household to put solar PV panels and hot water panels on their roofs. This would dramatically cut energy usage. New coal-fired power stations should be built (Serbia has lots of coal), and the Djerdap 3 hydro-electric power station should be built - this alone would increase electricity production by 40%. Serbia also needs to explore its territory for more oil and gas deposits.

like anyone cares about American lies and propaganda anymore go on YouTube and type Russia and see what the Russians are doing and china......America is finished their status is gone....Russia now has ports in Cyprus and Egypt ,cuba and moving everywhere their military is growing so fast and powerful all America can do is talk...just go look around on the news...Serbia go with Russia ,china ,India and all future massive nations of today America will give you nothing but talk....EU are aging and getting old and not worth a dime.....soon enough.....Serbia and Serbs in the region must have more kids and must happen now.....get businesses to come to Serbia from china and other great nations and let America keep talking.....EU ,America are nothing but talkers but show nothing to help....

When I lack information I always try to delay the solution until the situation comes clearer. And I think it‘s exactly what Serbia should do in the circumstances. If I were them I would even say it openly so that EUSA grip could be eased. ( If only Vucic has not got a prepayment for something else of course. ) By the fall of the year we shall have a better picture of Ukraine of US-Russian confrontation, of EU prospects, of Greece gas route ect. So to my mind Serbs should not make steps that would restrict their maneuver in future. I also agree that being tied to Croatia is the worst thing they can do. Besides all those NABUCCO-TAP-TANAP fantasies have no resource base because Turkmenian gas is all contracted by China while Azerbaijan has too little extra gas to be exported to EU zone. Iran means Pakistani and Indian direction and is close to make a strategic agreement with Gazprom ect. I think there’s only one chance for the new gas route though Greece and Serbia if only Gazprom invests the money and builds the pipe. Because EU is a castrated sheep with no money or will to do the job before the inevitable fall of Ukraine.
