I'd be happy to. So Switzerland has historically maintained a policy of neutrality which kept it from joining many international organizations. Thus, Switzerland saw joining the UN as an infringement of that policy so they stayed out. When they decided it was important to them, they applied to join and were accepted in months.

See there's a difference between not wanting to join, and not being able to ;) When real countries like South Sudan declared independence just 2 years ago, they were already accepted within weeks actually. Here we are, 7 years later and you cannot join the UN unless Serbia gives you permission.

I'd be happy to. So Switzerland has historically maintained a policy of neutrality which kept it from joining many international organizations. Thus, Switzerland saw joining the UN as an infringement of that policy so they stayed out. When they decided it was important to them, they applied to join and were accepted in months.

See there's a difference between not wanting to join, and not being able to ;) When real countries like South Sudan declared independence just 2 years ago, they were already accepted within weeks actually. Here we are, 7 years later and you cannot join the UN unless Serbia gives you permission.

My greatest fear is the Serb gov't buckling on its national interests in exchange for a pat on the back from the crumbling EU. With the mass exodus of Albanians from Kosovo-Metohija and all the countless amount of problems there, it would be stupid of Serbia to allow you something you have no ability to get by yourself.
