This is no joke, Serbia really has to bring up the standards. Somethings don't require thousands of dollars. Simply educating your staff to act professional and follow procedures would have a great impact. I friend of mine recently stayed at one of the hospitals in Belgrade. She couldn't wait to leave! Staff were on their cell phones talking with friends day and night. Totally ignoring patients who were practically begging for help. Some nurses even yelled at patients because they needed help! Staff were smoking everywhere that they could. Avoiding basic duties such as delivering water or even verifying that they were providing proper medication. Time to get rid of the young staff who are relatives of doctors. Get real people who give a crap to do the work. Crack down on doctors who expect GIFTS for doing their work!!! Smart people, but pathetic care system.

Serbia is at bottom of list? No kidding. If any on top-of-that-list realized that Serbia was bombed mercilessly for over 2 months in 1999, by the Bill Clinton group, they'd think twice about noting this pathetic item of news.

Most of all, people should be treated like a client and a patient, not as a number. The white coat mentality of doctors and nursing staff needs to disappear. They work for you, you don't work for them.
