For once what you say is true. The important thing is Serbia gets the plant. But do not be fool that China is acting out of pure altruism. They invest the money to Serbia and then Serbia uses it to purchase supplies and pay construction workers from China thus boosting China-not Serbia's economy. Then Serbia repays the money with interest and then again boosts the Chinese economy.

EUR 715.6 million for a new 315MW coal block located at an existing power plant? Sounds a bit expensive to me, or is something else included in this project?

Whatever. It's not Serbia's money being invested. However the Chinese want to split that money up is on them as long as the thing is plant is built. The Balkans need infrastructure, but are too damn broke for their governments to take out more loans in order to finance things like roads and railways.

The Chinese meanwhile are ready to build those things as long as their workers receive the construction contracts. It's a fair trade off and China's presence in the Balkans is very welcomed. The EU is not going to do any of these things.
