Serbia "not balancing EU bid and Russia ties"

This is the right policy for Serbia. Russia is not able to provide the economic base that Serbia needs whereas the countries of Europe (in or out of the EU) are the biggest trading block in the world. Serbia needs to be in that, and being in the heart of the Balkans stands to emerge as a very strong partner within that region.

Isolationism - such as remaining outside the EU or depending on Russia - will not serve Serbia well. Yes, life would go on and might even improve over time, but with hearty involvement, Serbia can do even better economically, as well as reestablish itself in the eyes of the world and distance itself from the abysmal past.

But it's Serbia's policy towards the EU that is in fact isolationist. The Serbian government is choosing to ignore the vast developing world like China and India in exchange for the prospect of joining an ever-receding, ever-declining and imploding European Union.

You want to talk about global trade? In the 80s, the EU had 40% of global economic wealth, today it is at 25%. In 10 years it will be around 12%. The EU's stock is falling, other parts of the world are growing.

What's worse is this conversation is pointless because the EU itself says there will be no new members for *at least* 5 years. This statement came from Jean-Claude Juncker himself. In case you don't know who that is, he is the most powerful man in Europe. He is the President of each member-state and has more power than the democratically elected governments of EU countries. Surely I will take his word on it before I believe any delusional EUrofanatic Serbs who are foolishly believing that EU membership is even a remote possibility.

Russia should demend a full payment of outstanding gas's debt, about $200M, before more gas deliveries. Let Serbs realize their leader's politics have consequences.
