New Ukranian authorities must now live up to promises

Ukrainian parliamentary elections are over, praise is coming from the West, but in this country torn in all areas there is very little reason for satisfaction.

If the Ukraine wants to avoid long term suffering, they have to either re-align their market naturally back to Russia, or compete in Europe. They have to do this at a time when the state cannot make its bill payments, and when the only "help" coming from anywhere is bad advice from Brussels. The EU may want to keep the Ukraine as a pet, but it does not need any new partners.

As far as help from the EU, the Ukraine can expect to be treated in the same humiliating fashion as all the other candidate countries are being treated, with total disregard for local needs and maximum pressure to conform with Brussels ever changing and increasing wish list. The EU means that there will be bread lines and Gay pride parades in Kiev

At some point Eastern Europe should consider it's alternatives. Is there really no more place for independent small countries?
