If you dont live in Kosova then you shoulden't be so concerned since it's not your future.

Or the same international court that routinely releases war criminals that happened to be allied during the conflict to the very same states who are now funding and running that international court? Very impartial.
(PEN, 11 June 2014 12:49)

That international court is now run by judges elected by Russia and Russia is Serbia's strongest friend (or so we're told). So there is nothing for you to be concerned about - Russia will take care of it.

In addition, almost every other day we have Serbs asking for the UN to prosecute the allegations of organ removal etc etc. Here it was the UN which prosecuted and found Ramush not guilty. So I'm not really sure what will satisfy you guys. When it's Kosovo courts that prosecute somebody you ask for the EULEX; when it's EULEX you ask for the UN; when it's the UN you say it's not impartial, so we should probably bring aliens from space to get the results that satisfy you because it's not possible that angelic Serbs may have done something wrong.

Battling security forces in the field is one thing. Abducting and torturing 'disloyal Albanians' Serb civilians and unarmed prisoners of war is quite another.
(PEN, 11 June 2014 12:49)

Of course, nobody is disputing that the above are different things. But, (i) you have to prove that an act was committed, (ii) you have to prove that act was a crime under international criminal law; and (iii) you have to prove that Ramush did it. Criminal justice does not work by hearsay...

Ramush Haradinaj/Thaci are the typical manure that the US supports – thugs, criminals and low life. Great add for US support for rule of law and democracy LOL.

"the judges explicitly mentioned that witnessed were killed or refused to testify. "

So they had a partial retrial with the witnesses that had refused to testify, and they were shown to be either simple liars or mentally incompetent. Or maybe both. One of these is said to be the famous protected witness of the Serbian Special Prosecutor's Office who claims to have participated in the removal of a heart from a living Serb using a bayonet that happened to be lying around.

I'v never heard about 19 witnesses disappearing in the Haradinaj case. And even if they did, you still have to prove Ramush had somthing to do with it. It could have been serbian secret service who made them dissapear. You cannot just judge in the air".

I rather have Ramush as our leader than some Milosevic. It's strange that you as an serb are so concerned whom we Albanians choose as our leader. If you dont live in Kosova then you shoulden't be so concerned since it's not your future.

Yes, unfortunately there are enough of Albanian idiots out there that see Haradinaj and Thaci as heroes - but probably they are even outnumbered by Serbian idiots who see Karadzic, Mladic, Milosevic etc. as heroes.

(Demi, 11 June 2014 12:04)

Nicely put. But maybe worth to mention: The Hague has ruled that Haradinaj could not proven guilty - and in the ruling the judges explicitly mentioned that witnessed were killed or refused to testify. So it seems that 'innocent' has a very special meaning for you. But I agree, a person like Haradinaj would fit perfectly as PM to the independent dream state of Kosovo, just like Al Capone was a perfect leader for the NY mafia.

Well I suppose it's a natural choice since both Hash and Rambo Ramush need some form of political immunity to avoid the upcoming Hague tribunals. Might also be nice to see Rambo housebroken by Washington like his buddy Hash has been these past seven years - might just help to kill the image of the supposed last "great Albanian hero" in Kosovo as he's forced to make concessions to Belgrade over K-Serb municipalities in exchange for Joe Biden giving him a pat on the head and a scratch behind the ears.

Demi,

If you regard the disappearance in mysterious circumstances of 19 witnesses who were due to testify in the haradinaj trial as just one of those things, then I pity you.
Not to mention 400 Serb civilians and others abducted, and 300 killed most of whom did not die in combat but were tortured and subsequently murdered. No other country in the former Yugoslavia has such individuals voted into power today, 15 years after the wars ended. It is a regressive step that will not fix a failing entity such as kosovo. But as I said before you've probably got the leader you deserve, so good luck to you. You're gonna need it, as they say.

PEN,

The story about the witnesses is just rumors. If you can prove somthing about those cases then it would be good. I am all for justice. As for the court not protecting witnesses I'm sure they did what they could. Nobody can protect people from commiting suicide or accidents. Those thing happend.

But the court aquitted him and that means he is innocent whether you belive the court or not. It's the only court wich is neutral. The Serbian or Kosovar court justice I belive would be more partial.

And if Serbia diden't have faith in the Haag tribunal then I guess they woulden't send their fellow men charged of warcrimes to that court.

The Haag tribunal (an international court) has proven that Haradinaj was innocent on all charges he faced. Killing opponent soldiers in an war is no crime.

If you seem so sure that he have innocent blood on his hands you could have put forward proof of that to the tribunal when he was facing charges.
