At that time the UNSC was controlled by the US and it released statements about concerns „over brutality of Albanians“. In 1998, neither China and Russia were strong enough to oppose the US and their hangerson, but if they were so concerned why hav’nt they recognised Kosovo? Today is very.
My point about Milosevic was that he never lifted a finger against his people unlike Thaci who is well known gangster and was once on the US watch list of terrorits and criminals. Then there was Alija Izetbegovic who wanted his forces to kill 2,000 to 3,000 (using knives; Alija’s words according to his police chief of Srebrenica) then we have the recent killings by snipers in Kiev that were hired by the current oppostion.
His people did not sell him out. It was that fifth columist, Herr Dindic for $5million. Milosevic could have started a civil war in Serbia, but he said no and I cant quote the exact words he used, but it was something like ’no its better that I go than to lose any another Serb life“.
Dont worry Albanians in Kosovo are going to study him in history classes. Look to the East and see what it means for the west to lose Crimea – Lord Cardigan once said that its the gate way to Asia (China) and the backdoor to Europe. The west is not having ’kittens“ over Crimes for nothing. It means Russia will control Europe.

"The simple fact is that Milosevic was a very smart man;"

He ignored warnings from the UNSC, he even had Russia and China concerned over his brutality toward the Albanians, his actions resulted in the bombing of his country and the USNC stripping away part of his country and placing it under UN administration (an action that was never done before and never done since). If that were not enough he was then overthrown by his own people and removed from office.
yep, a very smart man.

winston: fair point about these two, but what about all the others who strongly supported Sloba when he was alive (Dacic, Vucic, etc)? They were elected, were they not? Anyway, I agree - not all Serbs reflect the values of Vulin and Mrkonjic...a few posters like you, Danilo, Comm.Parrisson and others are clearly proof of that. But I can easily name many more Serb posters who obviously act as though it were 1989. And let's not forget that a Seselj spinoff party is poised to take over 40% of the upcoming election spoils.

i always try to be respectful about the dead, but with slobo i say good riddance to bad rubbish. Why idealize a mass murderer, who followed in the footsteps of hitler and stalin, as a wannabe. pathetic.

as for the present, "normal" democratic politicians of the belgrade regime i have nothing to say, for the simple reason there aren't any ;()

Nenad, Mrkonjic and Vulin were not elected into office by the people of Serbia, but rather appointed by their respective parties. BTW, not everyone in Serbia shares the opinions of these two, far from it.

Milosevic is the founder of Kosova independece.

If anyone should visit Milosevic grave it should be Albanians. He revoked the autonomy of Kosova just so Albanians can strive for independence. He repressed the Albanians and send the Army to Kosova making the Albanians mobilize them self. And finally he diden't accept the rambolluie agreement wich opened for Nato to bomb Serbia and made Kosova an independent state.

To put it the other way: If he woulden't revoke the autonomy of Kosova and diden't repress the Albanian population Kosova independece would just be a dream.

So thanks Slobodan Milosevic you played your cards right!

The simple fact is that Milosevic was a very smart man; in fact smarter than all his adversaries put together, but all the numbers were against him – 19 countries. Milosevic and his administration may not have suited everyone but they did not murder his people like Thaci has done or the Bosniaks in Sarajevo market et al or planned to have murdered a couple of thousands of his people like Ali Izetbegovic did to force western intervention or hired snipers like the Ukrainian freedom loving opposition.
Milosevic was murdered by the west for fear of what he will uncover and making them look like fools, but that is impossible considering they are that already.
Rest in Peace and as they say every dog will have his day.

What can I say? The comments made by Vulin and Mrkonjic are so ridiculous that one can only laugh. However, it is sad for Serbia to have such figures in relatively high profile public office. The mentality they espouse is the sort that drove Serbia down the highway to hell in the 90s. How do guys like these continue to get elected in Serbia? Is it just that a huge portion of the Serb electorate are conspiracy theorists? Does psychotherapy need to be made compulsory for Serb citizens? Or maybe a few years working in the diaspora, just to see how the rest of the world lives (but not Russia!)?

If your assessment of Milosevic were true why did NATO find it necessary to murder him during his trial. He seemed to be running rings around the intellectually and morally compromised prosecution and I strongly believe that's why he was liquidated.
(Sherlock Holmes, 11 March 2014 16:13)

Apparently you think you represent the world and as such the world, through you, has decided that Milosevic was a good guy. You are full of yourself Sherlock.

The very fact that there's people like you in Serbia does not bode well for the Serbian society. This guy killed his friends in the center of Belgrade. Even if the world was totally wrong about him; how can a sane person sympathize with psychopath that has no problem killing those closest to him? Unless of course one shares similar symptomatic characteristics. In the case of Vulin one can see how one psychopath can worship a dead one.

If Milosevic is beyond a shadow of a doubt a war criminal the only reason some of his victims were discontent that he passed away is cause they felt that if he were still alive that his trial may have concluded with a guilty verdict, however, some Bosniak (Bosnian Muslim) women cheered his death cause they viewed it as a punishment from God. Personally I understand the disappointment of those who preferred that he were still alive and be found guilty of war crimes but other than that I say good riddance to Milosevic.

Mr Vulin, lets get a couple of things straight before we all break down in tears over Milosevic.

VULIN;He added that Milošević was at Serbia's helm in difficult times - "when its survival was brought into question."
T; History shows that Milosevic himself had brought the survival of Serbia into question. There were a million options open to him on how to deal with the break-up of Jugoslavia and he choose to opt for the worst ones.

"Milošević knew how to make mistakes when choosing his friends, and not all his friends were his friends, or the friends of Serbia, but the enemies knew how to choose him without fail," Vulin was quoted as saying.
T; Yep, he certainly made plenty of mistakes which brought poverty, chaos and injustices to the people, except of course for his criminal mates and his family. They did well, really well!

Vulin; He stressed that "all Milošević's enemies were the true enemies of Serbia above all, and then of him as well."
T; Milosevic was his own worst enemy, so you almost got it right this time.

Oh, and so I could go on and on and on but really Mr Vulin your cheap attempt at distorting the facts might work for the likes of Putin or Yanukovich and did work for your pal Milosevic for a while but the truth can't be surpressed for ever.
Your style of politics is 'has been' and for the good of this country so should you.
