This was the direct legacy of saints Cyril and Methodius who gave us a language and the beginning of an alphabet so that we could learn and be free from the shackles of ignorance and the pagan era. Moving Tesla's ashes to the temple of Saint Sava, a Serbian architectural marvel would further enshrine the Serbian cultural and religious commitment to learning.
I am very impressed with the Church’s desire to cement the message of the importance of education.
This is a pro science and pro tradition message. The dichotomy of Science vs religion is western and foreign to the Orthodox faith.
Science deals with mans best efforts to observe and understand the cosmos by empirical means, only admitting what can be tangibly observed, while our religion has a completely separate focus concentrating on the holy mysteries that can neither be readily seen or observed, and on the spiritual world to come. The church and faith is our link to Christ's time and teaching. Unlike the west, we do not engage in scholasticism and this has prevented both religious and scientific contamination.
Saint Sava, the Church, and our greatest thinkers have a common legacy in the Serbian nation's quest for discovery, even when their focus was not the same. It is beautiful that they can be in harmony.

That said, I don't like this "move" either. It looks like cheap advertisment for the church. If Tesla left a will instructing for his remains to be buried as an Orthodox Christian then it wouldn't be a problem. If not, let his relatives decide.

Eric, it is the opposite. Tesla never had a chance to have a proper Orthodox Burial durring the Communist Era. The communists even went around destroying religous monuments and replacing them with idiotic Secular nonsense such as Njegos' resting place.

He spoke about Serbian history and literature, sang old Serbian songs. He loved his people and was proud of his nation’s history and achievements.

I'm not sure this move is necessary as he already has a museum in town and I feel that for a scientist, who may have had his doubts regarding religion albeit he was the son of a priest,that level of recognition is sufficient. However many may not consider the museum an appropriate place for someone's remains. This is a seriously difficult decision and needs to be thought out properly and not done on a whim.
