Anything good for Serbs is only a byproduct of you doing good for yourslef.
The contempt you have shown for Serbs tells me a great deal. If you could profit from Serbs without them benefiting in some way too you would, that much is clear.

The first time I was there was in 1972 and in Kragujevac and I didn’t see the use of donkeys or horses by farmers and being just out of University I didn’t pay too much attention. The next time I was there was in 1975 and I went from one end to the other of Yugoslavia and all I saw were tractors being used in the fields. Talking to people they told me if a farmer didn’t have a tractor he paid to have his fields ploughed. In fact farmers were finding it difficult to find seasonal workers even in 1975 despite providing lunch and dinner plus pay. Perhaps in mountainous areas where tractors are difficult to manoeuvre they did use animals but I never saw that.
Even today with Serbia in a poor economic situation I was there in July last year I never saw animals used. There is no shame to use horse etc. but don’t try and sell Turkey to me as an economic powerhouse when upon leaving Istanbul and out in the countryside it is third world.

I have visited Serbia since 1972 and have never seen animals pulling carts of ploughing fields
There can be a handful of explanations for that statement.
1. You never visited Serbia in 1972
2. You only visited a large city such as Belgrade.
3. You are actually blind

In 1972 tractors were in wide use worldwide, but I would wager that you could visit any country on the planet and find small farmers using a horse or donkey to pull a plow. There is no shame in it, but there is shame in trying to paint Serbia as something it was not.

It seems that all Albanians require remedial English lessons, I have said many times I am not an economist nor have I ever been one
India is a western creation to counter balance China, but India is about 80 years behind Beijing. It is not an advanced country by any means despite being called that.
In China I have never seen carts pulled by donkeys, horses or bullocks. Even the rice fields are ploughed using motorised means with the exception of the mountainous areas where they have fields in step formation and there they use bullocks.
I have visited Serbia since 1972 and have never seen animals pulling carts of ploughing fields, but I was in Albania and Turkey only 4 years ago and there was plenty transportation using horse drawn carts.

All true. Balkans people need to get over their Turkophobia. Not only is Turkey an economic powerhouse, as you say, but Serbs (for example) have a lot more culturally in common with Turkey than with Europe. Belgrade feels more like Istanbul than any other European capital.

No kidding?
Have you ever been to Sarajevo?
Serbs don't need to get over anything when it comes to Turkey. Serbs should always be vigilant because Turkey has showd it's intention.
I really don't understnd why you are in Serbia when clearly you are far more warm to others countries and even Turkey. Why don't you go there? Seriously, I am really wondering why you are in Serbia when according to you it's bad and there are so many better options.

What is even odder from the comments I'm reading here, is this perceived lack of civilization amongst the Turks. let us see, Turkey is an economic powerhouse, far more important than either Serbia or Albania, according to Transaprency International, it has a better developed democracy than many EU states already, it is also less corrupt than many in the EU already. what we see here, is this Turkophobia that is so very prevalent among people in the Balkans. this undoubtedly stems from the Ottomans, but to me its really bizarre that some should still have trouble getting over something that happened when they weren't even born. it is genuenly sad

It is political opportunism : Edrogen said it to appeal to nationalists in Turkey because he is in political trouble and needs someone to back him. This gave Nikolic an opportunity to look like he is defending Serbia's interests. Serbia was a pariah not long ago and insults had to be tolerated from everywhere, now Serbia can push back and Nikolic chose this in particular because it is easy politics for everyone. To Turkey Serbia is unimportant and there is not much political harm in poor relations. To Serbia Turkey is an old foe and a european outlier with little clout in EU circles. They think they can afford poor relations with each other because no one really cares.

The losers will be the regular people who need jobs and investors who will not see opportunities in politcal instability. Ultimately we need to move beyond politics. We don't need to like each other all we need to do is find some manner to work together so that the region becomes competitive instead of fragmented.

All true. Balkans people need to get over their Turkophobia. Not only is Turkey an economic powerhouse, as you say, but Serbs (for example) have a lot more culturally in common with Turkey than with Europe. Belgrade feels more like Istanbul than any other European capital.

From my personal experience, dealing with Turks in the business realm is a dream. All my experiences have been stellar. With Serbs - not so much.

Serbs could really learn a lot from the Turks, if they wanted to.

Funny thing - the same voice criticising the Turks, are exactly the same ones saying that Bosnia was Serbian, or Krajina was Serbian or Vukovar was Serbian.

Seems the Serbs are still feeling their own Karma of the '90's.

Walking back down the road they created must be a very painful thing.

Well looks like obviously someone thought that he can say whatever he wants without consequences.

Someone has lost touch with reality.

Turks have no place in the civilized world. Ask Germany.

Bravo to Nikolic, enough with the asian tribe.

When they refer to Turkey as an economic powerhouse, that is only the west trying to make Turkey feel warm and cuddly. I’ve never seen an economic powerhouse where people carry goods in carts that have car tyres pulled by horses or bullocks.
The true quality of an economic powerhouse would be for the EU to open its doors to all that would leave Turkey and see how many are left.

i have said it before and i will say it again, you honestly have no idea what you're talking. i would suggest you read more, but i fear it will go over your head, so stick to watching TV, at least some of it can be entertaining

I fully support the decision Nikolic, because really through some reckless statements can not be crossed, especially if the if the original statement made in a different context, not adjusted officially clarified.

Some of the remarks here on B92 by our Serb neighbors reveals that Serbia is more backward than Turkey. Furthermore, it re-enforces my observations after recently visiting both countries.

This amuses me a great deal, of course.

Erdogan is, by his performance, roughly violated the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Serbia. This move by Nikolic, is the only right thing to do. Turkey has always had a territorial claim to the Serbian territory, and this behavior Erdogan is a diplomatic scandal.

Anything good for Serbs is only a byproduct of you doing good for yourslef.
The contempt you have shown for Serbs tells me a great deal. If you could profit from Serbs without them benefiting in some way too you would, that much is clear.
