I will make sure to visit her grave just like I visited Tito's. Tito was the best president in the history of the Balkans. Him and Jovanka are our heroes and always will be. I know this is a thorn in the eye of many but too bad! Rest in peace and yes she should have the flag of Yugoslavia on her coffin! Zivjela Jugoslavija!

"If things were so bad, why didn't they run for the office to make it better?"
======================
Because they would have been killed. Tito was a dictator and he oppressed the population.
We were being brainwashed from birth and we feared to say one word against him or Jovanka.
I remember my parents talking about someone they knew who ended up in jail just because he said that Jovanka was no better than his wife.
So tell me now, would you run against him or any of the cronies associated with him?

What a Person, Jovanka! May You and Tito rest in peace. Thank You Both for everything you have done for the people of Yugoslavia! As always, there will be sewer rats bitching about everything, but I guess they have to live to. If things were so bad, why didn't they run for the office to make it better? I will tell you why, they had no heart and would not know class if it bit them on the arse. Napred Nasi.

Now you are honoring relatives of those that oppressed you!
Slaves do not deserve a country. Chop Serbia up and give it to... anybody!

Shame on you for such a hateful and ignorant comment. Neither Tito nor Jovanka didnt ever oppress anyone, on the contrary they defeated the fascists and created a beatiful and prosperous country. If someone should not be respected its all those nationalists that ruined what Tito and his Partizans paid for with they blood and their lives. And Bam Bam you dont need military education to become a colonel, if you have courage you can become whatever you want.

She was a LADY in the true meaning of the word ant not only should she have a military funeral, everyone should be standing when mentioning her name. Pocivaj u miru!

Pantagruel you asked as a millitary officer why shouldn't she get millitary honors and be interned in the house of flowers? Could you tell me on what day Milunka Savic had her millitary funeral? How about the over 80 year old Vojvoda and hero of world war one Petar Bojovic. Tell me how he was honored. http://www.politika.rs/rubrike/Beograd/Dan-secanja-na-zaboravljeno-oslobodjenje-Beograda.sr.html

She had the rank of Colonel. How on earth did she recieve that rank without any military schooling. She fought for YU and not Serbia. Does this mean her coffin will be draped with the red star. I hope the Serbs don't disgrace themselves with allowing such pathetic backward Tito loving slogans. The best thing Dacic can do is to cremate this thing and dispose of by dumping in the local tip.

The official Government's explanation of the decision for the burial with military honors was not precize enough by my opinion and should be ammended (to avoid any confusion). Not only that Jovanka Broz was a veteran of the World War II, she was officially a retired officer (colonel by rank) of the Yugoslav People's Army. She came out of the war as a captain and was promoted subsequently. Having that on mind, I see no need for further discussion, as in our country any former military officer has legal right to be buried with military honors (including flag on the coffin, horn and 3 shots to the air). Why would she be the only exception?

Wish she ad had more attention in life rather than in death, poor woman.

As a wife of a dictator, she had a pretty good life for quite a while there. I wouldn't pitty her. There are many people out there who should be pittied. How about all the people her husband put to death or imprisoned with hard labour? She lived like a queen.

In my opinion they should both be burried in Croatia. These are after all his people and they should look after his body. There is no more Yugoslavia and no more Communism.
My aunt fought in WW2 as a Partizan and she has been through many battles. There was no state funeral for her when she died.

It is wrong to speak ill of the dead, and I will make no comment on JB, but I am concerned about Millitary Honors. If she was a partizan, can anyone tell me what battles JB fought in World War II because I am not aware of any.
On a related note , wouldn't it better serve history to convert the House of Flowers into a memorial for the victims of Goli Otok. Wouldn't that bring all the peoples of the Former dicatorship closer to reconcilliation?
