t wasn't even in Austrian province of Croatia, as it was at that time "Krajina" that had nothing to do with Zagreb, and was autonomous province of Austria (here Austro-Hungary proves to be more sensitive then EU).
What Tesla called himself - a Serb!

Of course he did but try telling that to the jealous Croats here.
Father a Serbian Orthodox priest and mothers a daughter of one and somehow they managed to produce a Croatian child. Laughable.

Now if Tesla wrongly identified himself as a Serb, why not let Josipvic launch a huge protest and see how far he will get.

Perfectly said Sreten - Tesla was Serbian living in Austro-Hungary where the many different nationalities lived but still claimed their own heritage. It has nothing to do with the current boundaries that were changed. His nationality/heritage was Serbian.

Long overdue.
Tesla is only getting recognition in US lately and is becoming a name electrical and electronic engineers there swear by. For so long he have been neglected in favor of domestic scientist and inventor Thomas Edison, with whom he had many scientific disagreements. Despite of proving some of the Edison's theories wrong, they wanted him to share Nobel prize with Edison which he refused.

As for who he was - who Einstein was?

Einstein was born in Germany - was he German?
He left for USA when Hitler took power, and later took citizenship there. Was he American?
While one would have some right to call Einstein German or American, he is mostly considered and called by his ethnic group background, rather then his state or citizenship.
Most biographies note that Einstein was a Jew.

By use of same logic, one can only refer to Tesla as a Serb.
Today, Croatia is trying to say that Tesla was a Croatian (not Croat) because he was born in present day Croatia.
Here, situation is more complicated then with Einstein, who was born in what today is Germany, but was Germany then too.
Tesla's birthplace is today in Croatia, but then it was in Austro-Hungary,so one could say that he was Austrian or Hungarian...
It wasn't even in Austrian province of Croatia, as it was at that time "Krajina" that had nothing to do with Zagreb, and was autonomous province of Austria (here Austro-Hungary proves to be more sensitive then EU).

I don't know about him being the best scientist ever! But, he was one heck of one. Does his religion matter?
Do we know it even mattered to him?

Silly.

It is amazing how much it would matter to you if he was Albanian.
Croatians here try to claim him to be their own knowing so well he wasn't so don't come here telling us how it doesn't matter.
It only doesn't matter to you because he was a Serb.

Now what makes you think it didn't matter to Tesla?

I will certainly pay it a visit my next trip out to NY. He was a great mind, regardless if he was Serb, Croatian, or both. Because Tesla was a genius, it does not make me smart.

Great news.
Hey Lenard, Bam Bam and all the other Croatians who claim him to be Orthodox Croatian, what do you think the monument will say, Orthodox Croatian or a Serb?
If you don't like what it says are you going to change it? Maybe you will get Josipovic to protest.
