Which history books are they? Albanian? Right next to the story of their Illyrian culture? Or maybe the US history books? The same ones where it’s an official record of the US winning the Vietnam war – Bill Clinton proclaimed that one?

Those history books are being allocated their rightful; place – in the out house for use as ……

yes, a civil war with three factions,
1. muslim(mostly) bosniaks,
2. croats and catholic bosniaks who think they are croats
3. serbs and orthodox bosniaks who think they're serbs
the last one specialized in fighting against unarmed civillians

the first one was the oe with the smallest populatian and the only one without a proper army,

the last two had help from neighboring countries like serbia and croatia as well as distant nations throughout the entire war,

the first didn't get any support until the end of the war, which turned the tide, but the war ended before they could free their nation from the last two.

If that were the truth, it would not have taken parliament to figure it out. It was "State Aggression" based on ethnic hate of Bosniak muslims, and as the World Court concluded it was "Genocide"... as over 100 Serb convictions have made that case.

The constitution of Bosnia gave each of the three constituent peoples (Serbs, Croats and Moslems) the right to veto any constitutional change.
(Michael Thomas, 28 June 2013 17:36)

You are confusing Bosnia’s 1974 Constitution with the 1995 one. In socialist Yugoslavia, republics and provinces had veto powers, not nations.
----------

The Croats and Moslems voted for Bosnian independence from Yugoslavia and the Serbs vetoed this vote.
(Michael Thomas, 28 June 2013 17:36)

Any proof that Serbs voted to veto it ?
----------

The Croats and Moslems told the Serbs to go to hell and that the constitution was a worthless piece of paper.
(Michael Thomas, 28 June 2013 17:36)

Any proof Croats and Moslems told that to the Serbs ?

NATO has an official historical account? Please cite the text. Or do you mean the memoirs of outgoing members of NATO- over 50 to date from foot soldier to Generals each with a different story or do you mean the British Government’s account or the French, another mixed bag of all sorts. The danger of oversimplification is that it relies upon a simpleton to state it.
As to the 'oxymoronic' civil war, at what point does an internal conflict cease to be an internally fed one? At what point does outside interference render the term ‘civil war’ inaccurate? What strategic execution would make the term a smokescreen for another type of conflict? Soldiers on the ground don’t always know who is giving them orders; they just do what they believe they are told to do is the necessary thing to do.
No war happens without a chain of command, a supply of resources, a tactical plan, a strategic plan, a supply of personnel and a political machine to sell the war. The origin of these factors if they are overwhelmingly from one source then that source defines the nature of the war. Audit the war and then define its nature.

Yugoslavia was destroyed because it was destroyable. It was transitioning from a socialist hybrid economy into a market economy that produced goods ranging from cars, stoves, textiles, military equipment, etc. It would have been only a matter of time until what we laugh at today becomes what we take seriously tomorrow. There were too many ethnicities so a war was easy to forment, and the main industrial economies were positioned closer to the west. Much of the country was never industrialized or given much of a second thought. Think Montenegro

The west, ie. Germany France, et al, wanted not to compete with Yugoslavia, but turn them into net consumers and a source of cheap labor. And they did it.
(Radovan, 28 June 2013 15:45)

Yeh keep telling yourself that.

Surely the West would want a strong economic Yugoslavia to trade with!

If what you say is true, why didn't the west do the same to Poland? Poland was in a far better economic state than Yugoslavia in 1990, why would the west be scared of competing economically with Yugoslavia but not with Poland?

I'll tell you why, because what you just said is a load of bo****ks!

Yugoslavia destroyed itself. It is no good blaiming others!

Michael Thomas

pre 10 godina

In my earlier post I was careful not to blame Croats, Slovenes, Albanians or Bosnian Islamists for the Yugoslav wars. Instead I blamed outside parties, most notably Germany. My previous comment challenges NATO's official history of the breakup of Yugoslavia which speaks only of Serbian guilt and of the myth of Greater Serbian expansionism. The NATO story does not mention international forces; according to them everything that went wrong was due to the wicked Serbs - End of story.

If you believe this NATO propaganda I guess you will also believe that Libyans toppled Gaddafi, that Iraq had Weapons of Mass Destruction, and that the Syrian government is slaughtering its own people.

There is no excuse for this sloppy thinking. News and comment is now available on the Internet and we are not yet restricted to viewing just the BBC and CNN.

Let me guess, Serbian nationalism, the removal of autonomy for Vojvodina & Kosovo while at the same time establishing Serbian Autonomous Oblasts in Bosnia & Croatia and just a general Serb attempt to dominate the entire country had nothing to do with the break up of Yugoslavia? All the non-Serbs in Yugoslavia were actually ok with all of this, they were just following German orders right? LOL Is this all a coincidence that it happened at the same time as Germany's "planned and financed destruction of Yugoslavia"? LOL

You're giving Germany far too much credit, it isn't that powerful you know. Encase you didn't realise, Germany was rather preoccupied at the time with the unification of Germany, the fall of Sovietism in Eastern Europe and the economic crisis of the late 1980's and Early 1990's, which was caused by Black Monday. I suppose Germany orchestrated all of this to financially cripple Yugoslavia and as a smoke screen/ distraction to pull Yugoslavia apart right? LOL

I suppose it is easy pointing the finger and blaming others for your own misery. If Germany had had it's own way, Yugoslavia would still be a country today & a EU member right now. This is why Germany refused to recognise the independence of Croatia & Slovenia at first.

Now go back to watching you're Boris Malagurski propaganda films which attempt to whitewash and erase Serbian guilt and embarrassment from the 1990's.

The destruction of the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia was planned and financed by foreign governments.

Once law and order is disturbed and the police and the Federal Army rendered useless, people will group around their ethnic kin for security. So while it is true that the battles fought look like a classic civil war, the causes of the war were foreign aggression, mostly from Germany.

The Right History

It was Izetbegovic's war of choice, supported by the USA (ask Warren Zimmerman). It would never have happened if Fikret Abdic had remained elected head (he beat Izetbegovic) of the SDA.

There was something called small-Yugoslavia for its multi national composition - that was Bosnia. Serbs are still today trying to destroy the small-Yugoslavia after that they killed the big Yugoslavia.

If you Serbs are such supporters of Yugoslavia why don't you support the existence of the small-Yugoslavia??? Support united and multiethnic Bosnia.

Dear Michael Thomas, what an idiotic comment. 1. As the biggest and dominant economy in Europe we Germans are interested to make business and not to destroy countries. 2. And Yugoslavia had no significant natural sources, even one reason more why Germany is not interested to destroy. A lot of imigrant workers in Germany are from former Yugoslavia ( source of cheap workers ) third reason not to destroy.

Why west should get the blame. If everyone knew it was west why keep fighting.

As I remember, Serbian people would march from one protest to another around the country. It was Serbian people people who wanted to dominate the country once the money run out. Just others didn't put up with it.

We can see now how much debt our beloved it partisans left us to take care of.

A lot of civilians suffered for nothing.

And this so called Republica Serbska, its nothing more than a product of genocide. People whoa trying to hold dear to that are a bunch of lunatics.

So far I haven't met a single proud Serbian civilian from Republika Serbska. All of them they say are from Bosnia or Belgrade.

I suppose this is enough material for Neo-Nazis.

Some of the posters on this site should try to restrain their racist Serb-hatred and start to think strategically.

The constitution of Bosnia gave each of the three constituent peoples (Serbs, Croats and Moslems) the right to veto any constitutional change. The Croats and Moslems voted for Bosnian independence from Yugoslavia and the Serbs vetoed this vote. The Croats and Moslems told the Serbs to go to hell and that the constitution was a worthless piece of paper. The Serbs defended the Bosnian constitution and their right to control their destiny. The Americans were controlling the Bosnian Islamists and the Germans were controlling the Croats. Without the influence of the Americans and Germans war in Bosnia would not have broken out.

Well, if the West were out to destroy YU, I think it's fair to say they succeeded. At what point do people start to move on? Oh, but that's right. No one from the Balkans ever can. Serbs are still commemorating a battle they lost 624 years ago today. By the way, I think Serbs would blame Australian aboriginals for their 90s defeats if it ever came to that.

You are confusing Bosnia’s 1974 Constitution with the 1995 one. In socialist Yugoslavia, republics and provinces had veto powers, not nations.

You forgot that YU was so great and powerful at that time that, as a whole, it would have been a huge competitor for Germany in Europe - at least according to some of the posters here.

Joking aside, YU was negligible (even the Netherlands are bigger and a lot more important from economical point of view). No need to 'destroy' it or 'split' it into smaller parts. Besides that, nobody had any problems with the EU access of Poland, a much bigger and more important country.

Ian, to suggest that the West was not involved in the breakup of the former yugoslavia is a rude joke. It was integral in the destruction of the country.

But you are a person who supports the authoritarian deutchbaggin' wikipedia, where if one has a persistent enough voice it becomes enough to win anything. We should strive to be higher than your wikipedia gang, despite those tendencies to squash dissenting opinion, even when it is true, the fact is that you can not lock up the truth no matter how much you dislike it.

yes, a civil war with three factions,
1. muslim(mostly) bosniaks,
2. croats and catholic bosniaks who think they are croats
3. serbs and orthodox bosniaks who think they're serbs
the last one specialized in fighting against unarmed civillians

the first one was the oe with the smallest populatian and the only one without a proper army,

the last two had help from neighboring countries like serbia and croatia as well as distant nations throughout the entire war,

the first didn't get any support until the end of the war, which turned the tide, but the war ended before they could free their nation from the last two.

If that were the truth, it would not have taken parliament to figure it out. It was "State Aggression" based on ethnic hate of Bosniak muslims, and as the World Court concluded it was "Genocide"... as over 100 Serb convictions have made that case.
