I heard Mullah Erdogan introduced a similar law in Turkey recently...

correct. and erdogan's law is much more repressive than this one because it bans bars, pubs, restaurants to show anything related to alcohol on their advertising boards. also pubs are banned to put tables outside. briefly, turkey is becoming a hell for secular people.

No, only to corner stores and street kiosks. Pubs, bars and the rest are exempt. Though most people use the stores and kiosks to pick something up to drink at home with friends.

That is not too bad then. If you want to drink at home, you just need to remember to buy it before 10pm or earlier in the day. However I'm sure that Serbia is a lot like the UK, people will buy alcohol cheap in bulk at the supermarket if they want to drink at home and most people visit the supermarket during the day anyway.

I'm glad pubs and bars are exempt as I'm off to Belgrade next summer and it'd be rather annoying if they stopped selling alcohol at 10pm.

I know, I better watch my back. There will be lots of angry B92 commenters wanting to lynch me. Thankfully sj lives in the land of Aus, therefore I have nothing to fear.

This is very very bad for tourism. I can see the slogan "Belgrade-the city that goes to sleep at a respectable hour". Curfews are bad for business.

If you're not careful you'll end up with a nanny state like the UK. Everyone gets punished as a minority can't take their drink.

Not allowed from 22:00 on!!! Very stupid. One of innocent pleasures was to go and have one glass of cool white wine around midnight after a hot day and evening. Now that's taken away. And we will see waiters and waitresses losing their jobs and more drinking inparks and on streets. As I've observed thru the years the great great majority of Belgraders knew their alcohol consumption limits pretty well in pubs, bars and restaurants.

Ah, sorry. I learned this prohibition is aimed at alcohol sales in shops. I jumped the gun before I had time to draw it. Sorry. My glass of white wine is saved.
