For decades we people of the Balkans have concentrated on Tribal issues, waged war for land and for identity and in the end we all lost. Right now babies are being born in Serbia, Bosnia, Croatia, Albania, etc-these are innocent children who will look upon all of us strangley, and with distrust when they realized we fought and killed and died for certain issues, but all they will inherit will be lands so polluted that the very crops that grow in the earth will not nourish us but kill us. Its time to turn our backs on ther ugly past and we must become good stewards for the land we fought so hard for-to make the earth rich again and free from the poisens which saturate it now. That day is coming soon, and all the people of the Balkanas will fight on the same side. Save the rivers, the forests, the streams and the waters-and end the dangerous corruption of corporate greed.

GMOs are safe and work BUT GMO production is for big countries and massive corporate farms that have excellent infrastructure, the most modern equipment, cheap gasoline and cheap electricity, and can make big investments and produce incredibly large amounts of food with very tight profit margins. Serbia can not do that, it is a small country with a developing economy.

if Serbia tries GMO production it will compete with huge rich countries and it will lose its way of life, sustainable farming, and will not benefit economically. GMO production can effectively kill farming and agriculture in Serbia for that reason.

Serbia should maintain the sustainable and traditional farming that prevented starvation during sanctions and hard economic times. This natural farming produces a higher quality product that can be sold for more money in a growing niche of customers who prefer the taste of natural food and don't mind paying more for something that is better for the planet.

gmo tomatoes are designed to be drought resistant, tough skinned and grow quickly. Balkan tomatoes were bred to be delicious. There are people who shop for price and will buy the gmo and there are people who shop for taste and quality and they will buy the real tomoatoes.

Serbia cannot even regulate its milk for toxin levels, how is it going to regulate if farms are using GMO seeds? The inspectors are all crooked and take bribes, as for the politicians and ministers, I won't even go there. Only if you have your own land in Serbia can you know for certain what is being grown.

Good that GMO's are banned. I live in Australia, where GMO fruits and vegetables are everywhere, and they taste TERRIBLE. No flavor at all.
I always enjoy going to Serbia to eat REAL FOOD.
