Daniel,
I love it when Serbs think they can speak for other countries. An independent Serb state in Kosovo is not going to get Chinese support, Russian is pushing it. Brazil, India, South Africa, ever saying anything about it.
who can forget the scene of Albanians urinating in a church most probably those who still do not know where the mass grave that contains their loved ones to name a few. Or maybe those who helped buried the ones burned to death in the restaurant in Suva Reka.

No need to ask. All you have to do is declare independence, as we know from the ICJ that declaring independence is not illegal.
(Daniel, 31 March 2013 21:21)

Just a small correction... You know the above from your mind, not from the ICJ, because the ICJ never said that "that declaring independence is not illegal".

That is because it depends on the law applicable to each particular declaration of independence. For example, international law does not say anywhere that Serbia is an undivided territory; but international law does say that "Kosovo is an undivided territory". I know, it might sound unfair, but that's what the international law says - tough luck :)

Btw, don't take the above as suggesting whether you should ask the ICJ or not; I couldn't care less...

@Daniel sorry to disappoint you but no where in this world will you have four neighborhood (municipalities) declaring and winning international recognition.

You are numericaly insignificant.

Illinois has more Serbs than Kosova.

Do Serbs have SPECIAL RIGHTS OR EXECUTIVE RIGHTS THERE?

NO.

SERBS AREN'T SPECIAL .............

You are so funny, trying to equate the plight of Serbs in N Kosovo with the plight of Albanians under Milosevic...There would be no money coming in. There is no industry. Serbia cannot support it, Kosovo would not support it, no international source would support it.
It would definitely solve the problem as the only choice for Serbs there would be to move back to Serbia and thus the problem goes away.
So declare until your hearts content.
(Too funny, 1 April 2013 08:05)

Well, your name is accurate, as your and your Albanian friends' comments do make me laugh, A LOT. First, there are many countries that would support an independent Serb state. Think BRICS. You know that Russia and China would love more than anything to slap the US in the face and would immediately support it.

Regarding complaints. You and your buddies did a great job inventing injustices by Milosevic. Milosevic was a dictator and he was horrible to Serbs as well as everyone else. Yet all that BS your people pretend happened, for which there is scant evidence does not negate all the years of distruction your people do to Serbs every day. Who can forget the images of Albanians urinating in a Serb church? Who can forget bombing a bus with kids on board? Kosovo will be split. That's the only real solution and it will happen whether you or any of your unemployed friends like it.

You are so funny, trying to equate the plight of Serbs in N Kosovo with the plight of Albanians under Milosevic. Yes anyone has the right to declare independence but that means absolutely nothing if you have no support and where do you think North Kosovo is going to get support?
No one will recognize it not even Serbia. There would be no money coming in. There is no industry. Serbia cannot support it, Kosovo would not support it, no international source would support it.
It would definitely solve the problem as the only choice for Serbs there would be to move back to Serbia and thus the problem goes away.

This "gentleman" cannot ask anything of the icj because he belongs to a state that does not have membership in the UN.

He can, in his role as a Serb politician, request that Serbia asks that question and then they may try to divide Kosov but Serbia will be stuck outside of eu NATO and will continue to grow at the current pace.

I for one think this is a huge mistake probably the biggest mistake Serbia can do to start the 21st century.

I can just see it now , the Albanians from presova and the Vojvodins permit over the icj fence waiting for that ruling that says they can cease being part of the Serbian state.

North kosov would have no backing from a much smaller Serbia, say bye bye to eastern Albania and western Bulgaria aka Macedonia and let's fix Montenegro while we are at it.

This would be bad for everyone in the Balkans minus Natural Albania.

Happy Easter.

Sure, they can declare independence, the trick is making it stick - getting anyone to pay attention to them. Countries (Kosovo, in this case) also have a right to maintain law and order. Milosevic ran into problems when enough other countries felt he had forfeited the right to establish order by the methods he used.

No need to ask. All you have to do is declare independence, as we know from the ICJ that declaring independence is not illegal. No Western country can then question you as they do not question Kosovo Albanian's declaration of independence. This is just too good. Turn the West's BS back on them. I cannot wait. Please do it. Pure nonsense,

1. Only a member of UN can ask for a opinion of ICJ.
2. Even if Serbia tries to pose that question ( doubt it because of unsc 1244) that of course would open the question of Vojvodina, Sandjak, and Presevo Valley.

So nonsense is actually a mild word.

Of course it will make a different decision because the above is a totally different question. Asking if a right exists under the law is different from asking if an action violates the law.

You don't have to be tesla to see the ridiculous hypocrisy. Serbs ask for the same rights that the kalbs started an insurrection for, and now the kalbs refuse to give it to those they are attempting to subjugate. It is beneath contempt. It is immoral. Serbia treated normal Albanians a helluva lot better than the kalbs treat Serbs today. I know, as I lived in Kosovo for 4 years in the early 90s and saw with my own eyes.

Danilo

Do these know what the ICJ is?

They give advisory opinions to the UN General Assembly.

The UN General Assembly is, at best, an advisory body to the UN Security Council.

There's no way the ICJ can compel anyone to do anything. It's an advisory body to an advisory body.

Best thing that can happen: These guys get a pat on the head

Worst thing: International embarrassment

Either way, basically inconsequential.

I hope Krstimir is not of the belief that the ICJ is about justice. The court will have no problem in finding against the Serbs of north Kosovo. Its amazing how words can be twisted and massaged to describe white as black and black as white; it all depends on what side you're on you see, and that applies to the judges at ICJ as much as to anyone else in our glorious modern world.

We could all save ourselves the time, money and effort by simply seeing how many judges come from countries that recognise the independence of Kosovo and how many judges come from countries that don't. International justice today is pure mathematics. The Americans, who run the court, will make sure that the majority of judges come from their side.

Agree with the other comments. The words 'ICJ' and 'justice' are mutually exclusive. The ICJ has had ample opportunity to demonstrate it's objectivity on these matters...and has persistently failed to do so. The ICJ is funded by the U.N, who in turn is controlled than none other than the US and NATO. Good luck getting any justice with that mob.

Besides isn't the reason Kosovo cannot take Serbia to court over repatriations the factthat it has to be a UN member? If Kosovo is not certainly North Kosovo is not.

So declare until your hearts content.

Daniel,
I love it when Serbs think they can speak for other countries.
