Council fails to reach decision on minimum wage

The Social-Economic Council of Serbia did not deliver a decision on a minimum salary for the period from March to December 2013.

Minimum salaries are fine when you have an established economy but Serbia's economy still needs to take off. Therefore the more competitive we are the better. As soon as minimum wages rise above 400 Euro Gross a month we loose this competitiveness and instead of industries moving to Serbia they will move else where like Vietnam, India, etc. (China is already becoming too expensive).
If Serbia wants excellent living standards for its people then the way to achieve this is to first raise the standard of goods and services produced, then salaries will follow.
