Serbia....Losing wars since 1389. The End
(LtCol Friedmann, 27 February 2013 22:25)

After 623 years of "lost wars" related devastation we can still kick many butts at "the end" LtCol Friedmann.

Serbia is a sitting duck.
(Lenard, 27 February 2013 09:44)

Now., this is a sign your brain has a chance..

I mean, everything else is mistaken as usual but this is a damn good confession in shortest sentence possible. I cannot believe I pressed positive under your comment but you deserve that.

If Serbian entity in Bosnia is attacked by anyone that will be real war with mobilized Serbia, for the first time. Serbia was not defeated, not even in Kosovo by NATO even if we lost control of it's biggest part at present.

Now go and start again: А, Б, В, Г, Д, Ђ., otherwise you cannot drive trough "Croatia" now days. Next will be referendums about many other subjects..

We will prevail, not because "we're Serbs" only but because of huge injustice and new upcoming world which will positively reflect our existence, positions, cause and struggle. Right now, it would be barely possible for NATO to engage against Serbia as we'd have active support this time. Coming decade will close this chapter for good and then we'll be alone in the house to discuss and negotiate our differences in proper environment :)

EU? I predict EU will become surprisingly flexible in putting red lines in "Balkan reforms".

Cannot believe that you really think RS will stay in "federation" or you can occupy it..

If you knew anything, you'd know that Syria was properly Secular before the Assads came to power. Lebanon was also properly secular until the Assads occupied it for over 19 years. Now that the Assads are out of Lebanon, it is secular once again.

No I do not view Croatia as Serbia's enemy, you view Croatia as Serbia's enemy, not me. I view Croatia as Serbia's neighbour. And like most neighbours, they have some issues with one another. I think this is a good opportunity to remind you that the War ended 18 years ago.

This article has nothing to do with Serbia or Serbs and my comment has nothing to do with Serbia or Serbs. So when you say that I'm "Serbo-phobic", "Anti-Serb" or "racist" it usually means you're exhausted and have run out of things to say, so I'll assume it is the same again here. And if I'm a "sad man", what does that make you? A sad boy?

Lets have a look at foreigners fighting for Assad apart from Hezbollah. The Basij come from Iran, there are many Iraqi Shi'ites fighting for Shabiha and al-Lijan al-Sha'biyah. Also there are Palestinians fighting for Assad too from the "Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine". This is one of the reasons why Assad had Syria recognise a Palestinian state for the first time in 2011 as he wanted support from Palestinians. Then there are the Iranian Revolutionary Guards (15,000 are in Syria) and the foreign mercenaries which Assad has also hired to do his dirty work.

Lebanon and Syria do have a shared history, due to Syria (State of Emergency) under the Assads occupying Lebanon for almost 20 years.

Yes the West is funding the Syrian Rebels and yes a minority of foreign Mujahideen have infiltrated their ranks estimating between 1,500 to 3,000 in numbers despite the fact that Syrian state media, Iranian and Russian media would have you believe that the make up the vast majority of the Syrian Rebels when this is not True. The Anti-Assad Kurdish Democratic Union Party's forces alone are over triple in numbers of the foreign Mujahideen. The main reason the foreign Mujahideen are in Syria is because Assad has turned protests into a religious civil war due to Assad's connections with Iran and other Shia Radical Islamists. The Syrian Civil War is pretty much a Sunni V Shia War now.

Open declaration: I'm Croatian living in Canada.
Croats and Serbs both have legitimate grievances between the two; but both peoples need to move on and realize they are have more similarities than differences.
I love my people first and have a genuine love of many Serbian things because I see how it is so close to my own heritage.
US and Russians only use our nations for their own ends.
Croatian and Serbian will only be free when they can stop the hate and not become one nation again but learn to live together.
Croatia is now being used by the Americans, and Russian never did anything for Serbia. At least the Germans actually do things for Croatia.
But is is Serbia and Croatia that should stand together; both need to stop trying to dominate the other.
Much love to my Slav brothers and sisters!

Croatian surplus weapons from the 1990s funnels through Saudi contractors vs. military support and economic assistance from Russia, China, Iran and clandestinely Israel (better the devil you know than the devils you don't)? Oh boy, you are so factually incorrect that it's not even funny. The foreign Islamists are on the side of the rebels. They are largely al-Qaeda associated groups as was largely the case in Libya. They come from all parts of the Middle East and generally fight wherever there is a war.

Now its true Hizballah are fighting on the side of the Syrian gov't. But Syria and Lebanon are common people with a common history and therefore it was only inevitable the war was going to eventually spill into Lebanon and groups where were going to get involved.

Now you say Russia is financing these groups and you are probably right. But is the West NOT financing the other side? Salafists, radical Jihadists who are known terrorists? They are absolutely. I stand on neither side in this conflict, but if I were Syrian I would prefer a secular corrupt dictatorship over an Islamist corrupt dictatorship.

But none of that really matters, you just needed to use this opportunity to praise Croatia about anything because you view Croatia as Serbia's enemy.

And we all know you are Serbo-phobic down to your very teeth. You vehemently oppose anything Serbian at all......yet we see you here daily (well when Albanians are not committing terrorist acts), what a sad man you are!

Before anyone gets either giddy or angry, it's going to take a lot more than hand-me-down Croatian guns that were never used and dropped only once to unseat Assad. And the whole smokescreen of suggesting the weapons are bypassing jihadist groups is ridiculous because once the supplies hit Syria, things are passed, traded, bought, and sold without any oversight. Coming from Saudi Arabia, I really doubt there's going to be that much of an effort in making sure only "secular" groups are armed.

Russia is openly arming terrorist groups in Syria such as Shabiha, al-Lijan al-Sha'biyah, the Basij, Hezbollah and other radical shi'ite Islamist groups; yet Russia claims to "care" for the Syrian people. All Russia cares about is making money and in the process attempting to preserve an anti-Western ally.

Fact of the Day: There are more AK-47s in the world than Cars. War is a very profitable business. And what country do AK-47s come from? Russia! And I wonder how much money Russia pocketted after selling the nice brand new fancy military helicopters to Assad?

However this isn't a suprise considering Putin's support for Islamist Terrorists in Chechnya. Ramzan Kadyrov and his father before him Akhmad Kadyrov were both regarding as terrorists by the Russian Federation but now the Kadyrovs have been in power in Chechnya since 2003, but Moscow is cool with that because they've been pro-Putin Jihadists since 2000 therefore all is forgiven.

There was an arms embargo in the 1990s, but the west sent ex-GDR weapons and from stockpiles from ex-Warsaw Pact militaries, Iran etc. to Croatia and Bosnia whilst claiming they were blocking supplies. Organized crime has since found them very useful too. It's only a matter of time before an airliner in Europe is shot down...

Wrong! Syria was always a secular state, even before the Assad family took over. In fact, it was the Assad family which started to dis-proportionally disadvantage large parts of the society, seeding the discord between the various religious and ethnic groups.

To call the Assad family the balancing stone for all parts of Syria is just euphemistic crap. They just played each faction against each other and helped the Alawi/Shia sect becoming the dominant class in Syria. It will take time to correct that grave error and I'm sure that some among the Sunni group will take vengeance for those 4 decades of tyranny, but it will not change the fact that Assad is the reason for that problem and must be removed asap, along with his Russian friends which will be kicked out the day when that tyrant will fall.

Perfect! Croatia helping to liberate Syria from Assad thugs and his Russian quislings, while bypassing the small Jihadist factions. I don't see anything wrong in that and the rebels are about to win on all frontlines. The North and East are almost completely liberated.

(Ari Gold, 26 February 2013 13:18)

So go on Croatia, arm the Syrian rebels so they can defeat the Russian financed foreign Islamist terrorists in Syria.

Really, you believe that? If Assad falls he will be replaced either by further sectarian conflict or a Jihadi takeover. There is no other option. Assad is corrupt sure but he at least held together a secular state. His camp is the only ones able to hold a united Syrian state together without him it will fall.

M-79s, an SFRY product. Only an idiot believes there is any sort of arms embargo/ sanctions on sending weapons to Syrian rebels. Like Libya, some of these will end up in terrorist hands as the did in Mali.

Poor Ian doesn't understand that Kalashnikovs are lisence produced around the world, China being one of the largest (unlisenced) produces, not to mention that there are still millions of them left over all over the world from the Cold War. They are so popular even with western allies because they just work. Meanwhile the US and UK spend great efforts to buy back blowpipe and stinger sams from Afghanistan but now prefer to proliferate Russian built systems so that they can claim, justely, that they didn't produce them.

(Ian, UK, 26 February 2013 15:40)

Hmm. Croatian surplus weapons from the 1990s funnels through Saudi contractors vs. military support and economic assistance from Russia, China, Iran and clandestinely Israel (better the devil you know than the devils you don't)? I can certainly see the money to be made in war profiteering and Croatia *does* have some considerable debts to pay off, but I think the arms race is still in Assad's favor.

Balkan Anthropologist

pre 11 godina

Before anyone gets either giddy or angry, it's going to take a lot more than hand-me-down Croatian guns that were never used and dropped only once to unseat Assad. And the whole smokescreen of suggesting the weapons are bypassing jihadist groups is ridiculous because once the supplies hit Syria, things are passed, traded, bought, and sold without any oversight. Coming from Saudi Arabia, I really doubt there's going to be that much of an effort in making sure only "secular" groups are armed.
