@ Ian

Ian, you are way of the mark with your "Big Business" theory. The only legitimate argument is the kind of fire power and ammo that we should be allowed legally to posses.

Another clarification for Ian. Instead of the word "possess", the correct word is purchase.
What we have in our possession legally stays in our possession if purchased before the new laws are enacted.

@ Ian

Just to clarify-that when there is a threat of banning certain types of weapons, ammunition, or clip capacities is when people rush to their local gun stores before the laws change so they can "grandfather" their new purchases
which won't be affected by the new laws if enacted.

It's amazing how our founding fathers had the foresight to do all that for the big fat cat capitalists so they can make a buck from us is it not?
(Toothpick Willie, 26 February 2013 12:49)

That is precisely my point. Big Businesses are using the second amendment to make big money. They tell you it is your right per the second amendment to bear arms and defend yourselves all so you go out and splash the cash and make the rich even richer. Of course thir advertising campiagns are very appealing and they dress it up and tell you about the "founding fathers" being able to protect their country from bad governemnt ect. Business have abused the second amendment to make money.

You have to realise that Guns are a business. Big businesses are opposed to gun control as it will affect sales.

The laughing all the way to the bank days for gun manufacturers are only the days when the Liberals threaten to reduce our rights on gun ownership, otherwise business as usual, just like any other country that allows their citizens to own, collect and invest in guns.

You just said a load of jibberish.
I think it is very very sad that you feel the need to own a gun for the purpose of defending yourself/ others. That just proves that there is something wrong with your society. The problem with mass gun ownership is that it comes with gun crime. And because the US has a very high level of gun crime compared to the rest of the Western world, people feel the need to own a gun for defence purposes; then the cycle goes on again. And of course Big Businesses, Arms Dealers, the NRA ect are laughing all the way to the Bank. That is the society you live in. Ever wondered why the Police in the UK and the Garda in Ireland don't carry guns? It is because there is no need for them to do so. Gun crime is a rarety in this part of the world. Yes guns do make you equal... equally stupid!

It is a basic human right, and moral responsibility, to allow people to have the means to defend their lives and families. In the balkans, there is a history of war and tragedy several times a century and each century.
Honest people with guns have never made a problem for anyone, and crooks with a knife or even a pen do more damage on any given day than law abiding people would do in their entire lives.

I love guns, I'm just not paranoid and feel the need to be armed to the teeth and shoot my fellow humans.
(Ian, UK, 26 February 2013 01:00)

I hate guns, I deplore hunting for sport, and I believe in using guns only for self defense and for the defense of others whose lives are in imminent danger. Personally, I prefer Arkansas Toothpicks (love at first sight) to guns, as I prefer it close and personal in those adrenalin rushing moments, but don't worry or fear us. My country is one of the safest countries in the world for decent, law-abiding citizens, and ladies and gentlemen tourists and their families.
BTW, if you are not Ian from UK, but an Albanian troll from New York, where mostly only criminals and police have guns, and are planning a trip or a vacation out west: DON'T ever run to your trunk at a red light for your baseball bat to show us how mean, tough, or bad you are--you could wind up wearing it at the end of your butt like a tail or die a quick fool's death. In the West we don't do or play Sopranoish games.
In the US West your Sopranos, after awhile, learn on their own how to behave and act like proper girl scouts. Did I mention in most cases all on their own? You see Ian, in the West guns make us all equal, and the Good Lord knows we have always strived for equality.

"And the fact that it might, at some time be necessary, is supported by history, which is rife with pogroms, people wrongfully imprisoned , even murdered by the thousands by governments gone wrong, revolutions of all variety--racial, economic, nationalistic, religious etc. etc."
(Yank my dandy doodle!, 25 February 2013 22:42)

You are very funny. So let's imagine the oppressor was the US government. And let's imagine that at some point it sends its army to get you. Or even just the FBI, or just the police, SWAT, or whatever you have there. Do you really think assault weapons would save you? If you do, you need some help, my friend. Seriously.

Ian, UK

pre 11 godina

No. But I consider those that don't know diddly about our Second Amendment and try to come off like they know something.

Famous stupid liberals' question on guns: Why do you need an assault weapon or a thirty round clip to go hunting?
A: Neither are intended or needed for hunting. To my knowledge no one hunts with assault weapons. The two have absolutely nothing to do with hunting and they never did--YOU are the ones always asking that pointless question.

The thirty round clips and the assault weapons however have everything to do with our right to bear arms so we can defend ourselves in the event it becomes necessary. And the fact that it might, at some time be necessary, is supported by history, which is rife with pogroms, people wrongfully imprisoned , even murdered by the thousands by governments gone wrong, revolutions of all variety--racial, economic, nationalistic, religious etc. etc. And when the oppressor is the government or other entity who also has access to the most violent and sophisticated weapons, you'd better hope that you and your fellow Yorkshire villagers are armed with more than pea shooters!
(Yank my dandy doodle!, 25 February 2013 22:42)

There are plenty of guns in the British countryside. I have several rifles myself for shooting pheasant and grouse ect; however unfortunately it has just turned closed season. I love guns, I'm just not paranoid and feel the need to be armed to the teeth and shoot my fellow humans.

It wood be interesting who has the largest proportion of weapons the minority Serbs of Montenegro or the Montenegrin's. My educated guess it wood be the trigger happy gun loving minority Serbs. Lenard the Serb hater.

Oh, Lenard. Day after day we see your anti-Serb rants, yet day after day you visit and comment on a Serbian news site. Sigh. Let me school you on Montenegro, my "friend". Montenegro is a rare country in that there is no majority population. In other words, there is no "Serb minority". This is even upheld in the constitution. Ah, but facts for dear Lenard are not important, only random Serb bashing. You are a racist, Lenard. Can you please just admit it and be done? Thanks, man.

Ian, you are way of the mark with your "Big Business" theory. The only legitimate argument is the kind of fire power and ammo that we should be allowed legally to posses.
The laughing all the way to the bank days for gun manufacturers are only the days when the Liberals threaten to reduce our rights on gun ownership, otherwise business as usual, just like any other country that allows their citizens to own, collect and invest in guns.

@ Ian

"Ever wondered why the Police in the UK and the Garda in Ireland don't carry guns?"

Yes I did, and that's one of the main reasons "that you'll only be able to take my gun from me is when you pry my cold fingers from it"!

Another clarification for Ian. Instead of the word "possess", the correct word is purchase.
What we have in our possession legally stays in our possession if purchased before the new laws are enacted.
