Multiple salaries in Kosovo to be abolished next week

They are getting paid double and triple in some cases. Wow no wonder the North Kosovo Serbs act violently to any change of the status quo. "We hate Albanian authorities, but thanks for the extra money". Hypocrites.

Did you not know this was ONE of the things that has been behind the problems in the north all along. It was never about being a nationalist of Serbia or any patriotic idealism.
They never wanted the north to return to Serbia, they want the status quo. What happens to the north if suddenly it is partitioned and itonce again becomes Serbian.
1. Not only do they lose Kosovo pay, they lose the Kosovo incentive.
2. They have to pay taxes to Serbia.
3. Serbian police will be there to cut down on criminal activities(lets face it they have not had to worry about real police for 13 years, UNMIK never tried neither has EULEX, and anything Kosovo Police do is consiedered violent acts of the Albanian authorities)
4. The north no longer qualifies for international funds it receives for being a minority area of Kosovo.

In other words if the north ever becomes Serbian, if WILL becomea true ghetto.

Right now they have the best of all worlds, 2-3 times the salary of anyone in Kosovo or Serbia, no taxes, smuggling unchecked.

And it would be good to remove the VAT privilege, too. And the 'smuggling' and tax abuse by 'exports' and 're-imports' the 'businessmen' in Northern Kosovo are making money from would immediately stop

Albanians were taking Serbian government money for decades but did not recognize it. I say as long as the Kosovo Serbs use the Kosovo money to resist Pristina, it is OK. After all, it is EU money - where would Albanians take them from?

Not the first time an incoming government has stated this, probably won't be the last.

No Luka, It's not just the corrupt leaders. Also a lot of civilians in public sector like teachers, police, doctors etc. that get double/triple pay have a lot to do with this. If they didn't care about Kosovo authorities, why did they get their pay from them? Greed.
