Peggy innocent until proven guilty is easy enough to say. But when:
You know how much corruption there is in Serbia
You know that political protection is given to prevent corruption being investigated.

Then nobody gets proven guilty or punished and corruption continues...

For example I'm not saying Dulic is innocent either. However, Dulic isn't in government now, if we have corruption in government it needs to be weeded out immediately...

"Maybe when he is no longer just under suspicion but proven guity?"
(Peggy, 10 October 2012 03:16)

For that, first his immunity has to be revoked. And it's doubtful if Dacic and his fellow party members allow it.

Just in case any of us international visitors are unclear the minister under suspicion is Mrkonjic. Whether Prime Minister Dacic will allow him to be punished is another question

Serbian Deputy Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic is dedicated to the fight against crime and corruption. He said from the beginning that no one can be protected, no matter which party he belonges. Mrkonjic is in the ruling Socialist Party, and Prime Minister Ivica Dacic is from the same party too.

What do you mean, another minister to be arrested, Vucic? Who was the first? As far as I see, the prosecution just let Dulic go. Maybe his trail lead to someone high in the SNS or SPS (Dacic?), and the prosecutor all of a sudden could not find any more evidence in the case? All, I mean all, of Serbian politics and judiciary is a sham, a corrupt network of back stroking, ball scratching, butt licking, people that have had a strangle hold on this country for decades, and remain to do so. As long as you political mutants are in power, Serbia is going no where, no where. But I think that is what these politicians today want. That is what keeps them in power. Just take a close look at them individually, enough to make you puke.

@Steven001

Who said I was for DS? My comment was strictly about protocol, something that SNS probably don't know much about. There's a right way and a wrong way to go about what they're trying to accomplish.

I'm sure that you and I would agree on basically nothing when it comes to politics, but anyway, I'll tell you that the oh-so-popular SNS really have no idea what they're up against over the next few years.

You think Kosovo is a problem? Wait until you have to start addressing the realities of long-term unemployment, insufficient tax collections, poor crop yield from baking-hot summers (climatology tells us that for every 1 degree Celsius rise in average temperature, the crop yield falls by 10%), rising health care costs from an aging population largely comprised of individuals with high risk factors due to chronic smoking, excessive drinking, a diet heavy in fats...

And don't count on the East bailing you out. Have you seen the latest economic figures coming out of China, India? Things are starting to cool down.

Not a good time to be a little country with big problems.

Get them all, regardless of party. How good it is to see something finally being done. Well done to the SNS. It is fairly obvious the previous government was full of corruption, especially those DS thieves.

This should be a warning that corruption will not be tolerated and anyone involved in it will think twice. Obviously, anyone pursuing corrupt individuals will need to keep clean themselves.

Maybe you don't have newspapers stand around your house so let me inform you about recent public opinion. Vucic and SNS are most favorable political leader and Party because of fight against corruption in Serbia. They wont be pushed out by opposition on next state election and you know why? 'Cause people of this country see that he is the only one who is determined to put all corrupt politicians in jail. If you were aware of all those criminal actions done by DS, and nowadays you can see, would you give your vote to Democrats? I heard among most of my friends, and there are many of them, that they wouldn't...So, let me ask you...Are you so bedazzled that you can't see that democrats and influence that they had were just a "black spot" in Serbia's political history?

According to Ružić..."The law must be the same for all and processes cannot be conducted in the media."

Exactly. There's a professional way of going about this business, and we most certainly are not seeing any professionalism from Vucic and his SNS pals...not that this should come as any surprise.

Well, they should be careful, because when, in a few years' time, they face the prospect of being pushed out of power by an opposition riding the wave of an angry public, the tables could be turned.

The daily further says that this issue has already caused differences between the ruling Socialists (SPS) and Progressives (SNS), considering that those suspected of wrongdoings have so far "mostly been people close to Dačić's SPS".

What an excuse. As long as there are no similar corruption charges against SNS members (probably mainly because they are newly appointed and didn't have the chance to be corrupt yet), SPS members wont be persecuted? Amazing!
