You seem fixated on my parents but do not respond to the seriously ill policies of the government towards the Albanian minority. You don't even deny such policies existed but your silence seems to reaffirm that such state sponsored policies are totally okay when it comes to Albanians. Yet you love to point out crimes done by individual Albanians. Pathetic!

The reason majority of Serbs can't get along with Albanians is because they don't want too! You will always regard them as second class citizens. Then you wonder why there's no peace! Your fears and hate brought you in the position Serbia is in.

Only person that seems to be suffering is you it seems. It must bug you so much that a Serb and Albanian are happily married! You can deny it all you want but it does bug you.
And Serbians have never thought of greater Serbia? Well Milo proved that to the world with 4 wars in the name of Serbia! You must forget history a lot bc you never once replied to the century old state sponsored terror towards its largest ethnic group! No comment on the memorandum or Rankovic prosecutions of innocent people.
It's sad to see a great country ruined by narcissistic MIlo Serb supporters. I'm sure you hate Croats just as much! Pity!
You should come to NY and see how many Serbs and Albanians live normal lives and date and hang out. In the same building and no one is terrorized. And your terror philosophy is bogus. Do ppl commit crimes yes. Do ppl commit hate crimes yes. Neither the Albanians or Serbs can say their guilt free, but statistically since there are more Serbs than Albnians I think numerically Serbs can win that contest.

And each time you reply you seem like your justifying your dislike for Albanians. In a PC way. I don't care but I'll waste my breath replying to your comment.lol
(Kiko, 9 September 2012 16:48)
=================================

Actually I am not justifying anything. I am telling you straight out I don't like Albanians without ANY justification. Hopefully this will be clear enough for you now.
As far as you justifying Albanian terror and crimes dating back decades it is really pathetic.
You cannot justify Albanian terror in ways they made it unsafe for Serbian children to go to school unsupervised. Imagine, terrorizing children but that's ok with you because you have your reasons.
Now let's say Serbian children deserved all that terror, why are your people making problems for Macedonians now? Why are your people saying they will take all Albanian lands and join it with Albania? Have the Macedonians and Greeks also been bad to you?
Please stop mentioning your parents here. So they are laughing at what I say. So what? I know what is good for me and they can laugh all they like. What do they want? Do they want me to find myself a nice Albanian man and end up having deny free speech to myself?
There are many more people who think before they do something like me than like them. One has to suffer having you for a son.

So you're saying there was no state sponsored plan to get rid of Albanians in the past century or so? That there was no re-colonization plans to repopulate Kosovo/a by the govt.? Rankovic or the Cosic memorandum never happened. That Serbs were given prime land and could only sell it after 10 years of ownership. What was it 10 hectares. It's pretty clear that Albanians were displaced from Niš to the borders of Albania proper. And you see no issues in such govt. sponsored programs. And then you hate Albanians for standing up for equal rights!

The 3rd largest minority being stepped on bc of discriminatory views. And you still think Albanians are thiefs or murderers. Where reality is both people are so much alike that the differences are fewer than how much they have in common. You bother to talk to an Albanian in person? Or your hate and insecurities about Albanians cloud your judgement so much that you can't.

My parents are amused by your comments and again feel sad for you. Bc you over generalize. Instead of condemning acts by perpetrators and encouraging the law to find and punish them to the full extent of the law you just blame everyone. There was never true law in Kosovo! And it will take time but that's what everyone should be pushing the govt. to take responsibility. Rule of Law!

And each time you reply you seem like your justifying your dislike for Albanians. In a PC way. I don't care but I'll waste my breath replying to your comment.lol

Kiko, I do admit that I find it absolutely strange for any Serb to marry an Albanian and that is something I could NEVER do, but don't care that your parent has decided to do it. Why? Because I don't care about your parents. Do you get it now?
Yes, having to live in a marriage with an Albanian brings a really bad taste in my mouth and you're right that I have strong feelings about it, but for me and my loved ones not people I couldn't care less about.
Having said that, do keep believing anything you wish for it doesn't change my world in any way.

Also I am not going to concern myself with any accusation you wish to throw my way. I know the facts of the war and who started the whole mess decades ago. I don't need you to teach me anything. Your people keep proving me right every day.
Now go and do some more emotional damage to the Serbian parent by throwing more mud at their side. I am sure they must really enjoy it. You are such a wonderful son.

And I do believe you care about my parents because it sickens you. The only thing I'm surprised you haven't asked is which parent is Albanian and which is Serbian?
(Kiko, 7 September 2012 03:03)
==================================

No Kiko, it doesn't sicken me because I am not about make myself sick over something which has no meaning to me or impact on my fellow Serbs.
You wish it sickened me because it would make you feel so much better. Believe me when I tell you that you and your parents are nothing in my life and if your Serbian parent wishes to accept the life they have then it becomes their business not mine.
That is precisely why I haven't asked which parent. I don't care. Now if you don't believe me, again, that is your pain not mine.

Kiko

And you seem to miss the main difference of these misdeeds on both sides. For decades you had a govt. sponsored policy compared to individual acts. Serbia being a country stooped to the lowest level under milo era in Slovenia (short lived) Croatia, B&H, and finally in Kosovo.
So when you think about it, all the things you described are crimes committed by Serb citizens against Serb citizens. In view of the laws of Serbia there is no difference. You on the other hand have made it a mission to differentiate and blame individual acts as if they are all planned acts. If as you've said before Albanians can't run a govt. or office how can each crime be organized?

And I do believe you care about my parents because it sickens you. The only thing I'm surprised you haven't asked is which parent is Albanian and which is Serbian?

Sounds racist to me. They both speak the same languages. They both have been blessed. Just because I see the Serbian regime as anti-albanian and believe its wrong and my parents have both read your posts and think you are stuck in time. They met through my grandparents who were great friends. They didn't see the issues your advocating to avoid.
===================================

Stuck in time!!!! What story are we commenting on here?
These things are happening now so how stuck in time am I. Serb regime being anti-Albanian but Albanian organ snatching regime not being anti Serb. You really can't see that one.
Kiko, I don't care about your parents or what they think. I don't care if one has to endure a child who blames one side entirely. I don't care what your reasons are and what languages your parents speak. If it works for them then that's their life not mine.

If I chose not to get together with someone whose people are vandalizing my people's graves, expelling them, murdering them on almost daily basis and have committed hideous crimes against them then YES, I AM RACIST. I prefer to think I am smart enough not to get myself in a situation where I have to endure having to hear cr@p about my people and shut up because if I open my mouth my partner and his family and my own child will call me racist.

Our people have more commonalities than what you see as issues or problems. Religion is one key area that people like you see as a problem. They then take that and relate it to the ottoman empire and their 500+ years of occupation. Instead of focusing how each ethnic groups own people screwed themselves during that occupation. So the disdain for the turks falls onto the albanians. Battle of 1389 is a perfect example. Its ironic how people tie the disdain for an occupier (Ottomans)to the people who are currently there that still have the same religion (majority) as the occupiers. And forget that the people there were once christian just like the rest of the serbs. And some are orthodox and catholic.

Kiko, It doesn't bother me that your parents are married. I couldn't care less what arrangement they have and I truly mean that.
What I did say is that obviously one partner has submitted to the other quite a bit to raise a child who so obviously feels more for one side.
Now again, I don't care where your loyalties and sympathies lie so don't put words in my mouth or shoot the messenger.

If your Serbian parent has no problems with you loving the Albanian side then that's your business and theirs but if they do feel hurt because of it then I feel sad for him or her.
That's why I think it's a very, very bad idea to marry someone from an ethnic background with whom you have had and will always have problems. Not a matter of hate, but a matter of good judgment and eliminating at least those problems. Lord knows that any marriage will face challengers so eliminating the obvious ones in the beginning is a good idea.
You can interpret that any way you wish and I am sure you will.

kiko

It must urk you that my parents married. They both consider themselves Yugoslavian. And neither one submitted to the other but they do have a great working relationship. In your eyes you just see hate and nothing else.

And I've always advocated peace and a peaceful solution. Serbs think that they can have the land but not the people. Serbs also forget that in their history books 1389 was faught by all the regional players including the Albanians. And that they once were all Christian.

I'm glad that my parents success urks you because it shows how much character you truly have. Its sad that you are a prejudiced person. Its not about sides its at getting mutual respect. Being equals and partners. You forget the reality that we do have more commonalities than differences. Your hate blinds you and I feel sorry for your kids and especially you.

Seeing how you are a product of that 47 year union I can see how they made it.
It's obvious one had to submit to the other and the result was an offspring who supports only one side. Yep, I would say it is a very successful marriage for the Albanian partner.
What can I say, there will always be someone willing to sell out their own kind in order to keep a partner.

Your ignorance appalls me. Do you know how many people know Serbian or Albanian in the US and they have no Balkan blood in them? Yes it is not taught in elementary-high school but it is taught at the colleges where there is a large base of Serbs or Albanians. NYC, Cleveland, Detroit, Chicago, Boston to name a few. Then u have private schools. So why are Americans taking Serb 101 or Albanian 101? These students seem to think its an important and useful language. I just proved your logic false again. The same goes in Britain. There are students who study the Balkans and its languages. Might not be useful as you say but to these students it seems so.
Now you mean to tell me through contact with other nationalities such as Serbs and Abanian that no Brit knows their language? People have friends and through friendship and contact learn from each other. How do Serbs in Kosovo know Albanian if it wasn't part of their curriculum? How did I learn Spanish without ever once taking a class in it? CURIOSITY!
Brits have a lot of curiosity which you don't give them credit for. Ian's dad could have had a girlfriend that was Albanian. He could have married one. The possibilities are numerous to your short sighted one solution answers all due to your disdain towards Albanians. American/Brit host families do undertake the task of learning (trying) their hosts language.

Oh and my parents thank you and said they don't need your luck they made their own for 47 years and still do so :)

Good luck to them. They will need it.

Peggy

pre 11 godina

Kiko, you are so stubborn to the point of being ridiculous.
I never said that Brits don't learn other languages. They do, they learn the useful languages. Albanian is not a useful language and neither is Serbian.
The only people who would work as interpreters using those languages are really people from those regions who also speak English. If a language is NOT being taught in school, how do you think a person learns it? They are either of that ethnicity or have lived there for a while but your average Joe will not be learning it in any formal way.
So Ian's family would not have been able to speak Albanian unless they are of that ethnicity. I don't see Ian's father learning Albanian just for the fun of it.
So don't accuse me of saying that Brits cannot learn other languages. They can, but Albanian is not one language any of them will be learning just because they anticipate getting a K-Albanian family living with them.
Stop being so stubborn and you won't sound so stupid.

it depends what you mean by important Comm. frankly, I have never understood what strategically important meant. why is South Korea important? or for that matter, Gibralter? Is Argentina not important? truth is, if the US wanted to leave, they'd have packed their bags long ago. for what its worth, we know we're not independent, we're both an EU protectorate and a US colony. however, we prefer this form dependence, to the one we had to contend with under Serbia and judging by the comments of most Serbs on these pages (I did write most, I know not all Serbs are raving mad nationalists), this isn't going to change

Kiko

pre 11 godina

To: Peggy

You mean to tell me that his father couldn't learn Albanian? Are you insulting his intelligence? And that the only language that Brits know is English? That not a single pure Brit doesn't know other uncommon languages of the world and they have the inability to learn one, two, or three.

If he took on this family then how did they communicate? If they didn't know English (we'll assume) and he didn't know Albanian then how did they communicate. If this was 1998 or '99 there has been ample time for both to learn each others language.

You are right that Albanian is not taught in mainstream schools but how are all the embassy workers taught to speak Albanian? Or Serbian? There are schools that teach these languages throughout the country, might not be many but I can guarantee you that someone is teaching Serbian or Albanian in England!

There are courses to learning Serbian and Albanian on CD. I don't believe you have to be an expert of the language to be able to speak it. Are you an expert on Serbian or English? Probably not but you speak it well enough where we both communicate!

Your emotional dislike with anything Albanian blinds you and that darkness you'll pass onto your kids if you already have not. In the US you have Serb and Albanians that are married and live great lives. One couple I know didn't know the others language but if you talk to either now they both know them very well. If you hear them speak to their kids they mix Albanian, English, & Serbian.

So stop making a fool of yourself trying to explain away how Ian's family spoke Albanian except that they are of Albanian stock.
Unless they lived in Albania there is no way they would know it. Ian is just a generation of Albanians born in the UK.
No other explanation makes sense.
(Peggy, 1 September 2012 14:50)

Agreed... who on Earth would waste time to learn languages such as Serbian or Albanian (unless they were born there) ? I know that Serbs or Albanians think that they are the center of the universe... :)

Peggy

@Kiko, Ian said that his father was an ambulance officer and they took in an Albanian family. Now how many ambulance officers of British blood speak Albanian? Ian's father was not in the military, politics or anything remotely similar to someone needing to speak Albanian and I am quite sure that Albanian is not one of the languages taught in English schools.
So stop making a fool of yourself trying to explain away how Ian's family spoke Albanian except that they are of Albanian stock.

(Ian, UK, 31 August 2012 13:39)

Western presence will end when there's no more need for them to be there. But with a Kosovo 'government' and state structures like that one, this won't happen. US will surely leave Camp Bondsteel, no need to stay in an unimportant place like Kosovo. They have bigger and more professional bases in other countries, and the new strategic region for US will be outside Europe, anyway.

Ian, Talibania...

You are clearly insane. "Kosovo become an NATO member" you need mental help lol. Do you know how much billion dollars of aid has been poured into Kosovo i Metohija since the end of the Serbian civil war of 99 without anything back from it. There is simply nothing there. No economy, no improved standard of living. It has become a basket case. And your theory is the West will keep filling this basket case up more and more just because YOU want them too? Pffft.

The West has its own problems internally now and even still, the problems in the Middle East are much more important than the Balkans. For Western countries to keep funding 3rd world Albanian living standards until "Kosovo becomes a NATO member" they would need at least a trillion dollars.

As for Austria and Germany sending more troops to Kosovo i Metohija, you clearly fail to read between the lines. They would like this matter closed once and for all. So the goal is to put the pressure on Serbia to let go of its occupied Christian province and think more temporary troops will do the trick.

If this is not the case explain to me why the West is so quick to "end supervised independence" LOL I'll you why...THE BANK IS CLOSED!!

You think some temporary Austrian and German troops ensure Kosovo i Metohija will never be liberated? Bro, we survived 500 years of Muslim enslavement this is a joke.

I've grown to love the religious element that you and exKfor bring forth in this dispute. no doubt that you seriously believe you're fighting a 'Muslim' enemy and are standing up for Christian Europe (why on earth Serbs elected to murder Christian Croats is not known to me). guess what sunshine, Catholic K.Albanians support independence too and a lot many of them were part of the KLA. you hang on to fairy tale myths about having 'stood' the Islamic yoke for 500 years if it makes you feel better however. seems to me Christian Europe doesn't support you, whereas most Islamic states do (ironic isn't it?)

I've heard of foolish statements that people make but ignorant ones like yours take the cake. There are people that do not have a single ounce of Albanian in them that do know Albanian. Even outside the Balkan region. And the same applies to Serbian language. You have people in china that know Albanian as an example. And they never stepped foot in the Balkans and I'm sure there are folks that speak Serbian.

British intelligence was all over the Balkans in the 1st & 2nd world wars and other nations and they new Albanian. Maybe not many but some did. Same applies to the Serbian language.

You can't assume that a person automatically is Albanian just bc they comment on this portal! And that foreigners do not know Albanian. It's like me arguing that no one knows the Serbian language besides Serbs. And only people that speak Serbian are Serbian. FALSE!

No one even remotely noticed that the police were dispatched to returnees home. The possibilities are numerous. And each event could be an isolated event but no one here or the Serbian intelligence can say for a fact it was an orchestrated event. And no one can say for certainty that the individual was Albanian or Serb. Use your heads and stop talking via your emotions. Think dammit and stop acting like mindless sheep! The police and KFOR should catch them and charge them on Terror Charges. And the perpetrators should be processed under the law.

There is no way this Albanian family spoke English as they were refugees and yet they stayed with Ian's family and according to Ian this is where he learned about what was going on. What language was spoken in Ian's house? How did he understand them? Simple, they are all Albanian.

So you see, Ian is an Albanian, probably born in the UK.

These minor attacks, If actually Albanian perpetrated are just the small aftershocks of a, original & tremendous eruption that was Serbian state induced, during the late 1990s!  Iam confident, that the government of Kosova within a short time, maybe 10-15 years should be successful in obliterating these isolated incidents.. Some of you Serbs, must understand that a lot of poor Albanians lost, Their entire family members to serbia's aggressive policy's of the 1980s-1990s! Western presence will end in Kosovo once Kosovo becomes a member of NATO and even then I doubt the US will leave Camp Bondsteel.

Bah, this can't be true. His High Excellency Thaci just last week said at the UN that Kosovo is one of the most stable regions in Europe whose institutions Serbs are willingly and happily integrating with. And we can't possibly believe the words of an alleged war criminal backed up with CIA money could possibly lie, now could we? No no, these must be Serb MUPs who infiltrated the KPS and shot at Serb villagers just to make Albanians look bad :)

The British people eh, kept in the dark and fed on s***. Wake up man and try a few different news outlets that tell you what really is going on, it's called the truth, something the Brit government doesn't tell it's people. What a joke you people are.

@Champion for the underdog, Ian IS Albanian. How else could his family communicate with K-Albanian family they had living with them for a while. This was said by Ian himself. How many Brits speak Albanian?
There is no way this Albanian family spoke English as they were refugees and yet they stayed with Ian's family and according to Ian this is where he learned about what was going on. What language was spoken in Ian's house? How did he understand them? Simple, they are all Albanian.

So you see, Ian is an Albanian, probably born in the UK.

Peggy

pre 11 godina

Peggy

Just because I see the Serbian regime as anti-albanian and believe its wrong and my parents have both read your posts and think you are stuck in time. They met through my grandparents who were great friends. They didn't see the issues your advocating to avoid.

So when you think about it, all the things you described are crimes committed by Serb citizens against Serb citizens. In view of the laws of Serbia there is no difference.

Or your hate and insecurities about Albanians cloud your judgement so much that you can't.

Please stop mentioning your parents here. So they are laughing at what I say. So what? I know what is good for me and they can laugh all they like. What do they want? Do they want me to find myself a nice Albanian man and end up having deny free speech to myself?

You must forget history a lot bc you never once replied to the century old state sponsored terror towards its largest ethnic group! You should come to NY and see how many Serbs and Albanians live normal lives and date and hang out. In the same building and no one is terrorized. And your terror philosophy is bogus. It's  just normal that your going to have a few hotheaded individuals perpetrating these isolated incidents! You ever here the saying of, Rome was not built in one day? what a very misleading article. shots were heard, therefore they must have been shooting at the returnees? either those who shot are very poor at aiming, or they weren't shooting in their direction. when i see serb villages burning and masses upon masses of refugees living in tents (like we saw in 1999) i will have grounds to believe these 'stories'.

Unless they lived in Albania there is no way they would know it. Ian is just a generation of Albanians born in the UK.

Peggy

pre 11 godina

Kiko

Peggy

pre 11 godina

You don't even deny such policies existed but your silence seems to reaffirm that such state sponsored policies are totally okay when it comes to Albanians. The reason majority of Serbs can't get along with Albanians is because they don't want too! You will always regard them as second class citizens. Then you wonder why there's no peace! Your fears and hate brought you in the position Serbia is in.
