The bridge must be cleared. Trying to solve this issue by force would not work for either party. What if other minorities inside Serbia (Hungarians,Albanians, Turks) decide to act the same as Serbs in Northern Kosovo? Who has more to lose then?

"This has nothing to do with freedom fighting, it is just criminals being in charge in that part of Kosova. KFOR simply should move in and take care of it."
(Willi Pfaff, 10 August 2012 12:57)

Why only that (northern) part? Criminals and mafia groups are in charge of whole Kosovo, giving them the name 'government' doesn't change that as long as the characters are the same.

Krstimic Pantic has obvioulsy learned well from Milosevic on playing the victimisation card. I wonder when he'll mention the 1,700 Albanians, Bosniaks and Turks expelled from North Mitrovica back in February 2000

the voices of the serb (nationalists) are as reactionary and war-mongering as ever. moderation?? on which planet? aside from the criminal actors (mup agents, multi-kulti mafiosa) the west remains guilty for its inaction. the message is always the same: we're not gonna take it! kind of, sort of... naturally the serb nationalists see/feel the weakness and ambivalence and take full advantage of it.

It is time KFOR moves in and establishes free movement in the criminal north of Kosovo. It is time this swamp is finally dried up, and rule of law is established. As we all know, and which came out on more than one occation in the past, it is the Mafia which rules there, and Belgrade supports these illigal structures. This has nothing to do with freedom fighting, it is just criminals being in charge in that part of Kosova. KFOR simply should move in and take care of it.

Some say whole Kosovo is a shame for Europe and should be removed as soon as possible.

we have to show these people who is in charge, and who is not. the ahtisarri plan must be implemented, and an independent Kosova must and will flourish. different groups will live side by side, as they always have, albeit not always happily.

it is blg itself that holds the cards. if they wish to keep playing dirty, bye bye eu and all financial aid. period.

"I think that this barricade is a shame not only because it prevents the freedom of movement, but rather because it is a symbol of division of a city which is capable of and ready to exist as a unity," Drews said. Herr Drew, please, we all know you are saying this because you have to. If anyone knows that KiM is not ready for unity, and actually does not want it, it's you. You have been watching the goings on in KiM first hand. You have watched the violence perpetrated by the Albanians, both individual citizens, and Pristina institutions, against the out numbered minority communities. No Herr, Drew, the barricade on this God awful bridge must stay, it is a symbol of what KiM is today - an ethnically divided Serbian province, that by force, is occupied by foreign troops, and given too much free range to a narcotics mafia that is operating as a government. Why the US/EU still drive for an independent Albanian KiM is beyond me. The real ethnic cleaners, and genocide driven madmen in KiM are the Albanians - why does the West still support them? Is it to save face, or are there larger issues we are not aware of?

Notice that Drew is the only articulate voice speaking in defense of Albanian Kosovo independence. The Albanians themselves are certainly advised to keep their mouths shut. And Drew doesn't have anything exciting to say, he sounds like a snotty kindergarten teacher. The voices of wisdom and moderation, over and over again, are Serb voices, even while they are grimly firm on the weakest of ground. The accusations against the Serbs that form the basis of the current situation sound shallower and thinner every day.

He explained that the beliefs of the people who set up "this symbol" - i.e., the barricade - "cannot be changed in the manner", adding that they had many situations in the past "when removal of political symbols by military means did not yield good results".

Oh for a minute there I thought Drews was making a threat. Instead he's waxing a philosophic idea that he knows perfectly well doesn't exist. Maybe he can preach the same feel-good nonsense the next time he's on the other side of the Ibar drinking rakija with the Serbian mayors. Until then, the barricade remains where it is since it's not a good idea to dismantle "symbols" by military means.

As a German, he should know well about divided cities, and that it can take decades to unify it again. And as long as KFOR is blocking so-called 'alternative' crossings, he should keep is mouth shut regarding 'freedom of movement'.
