Parliament debates changes to central bank law

The Serbian parliament on Thursday started a debate on amendments to the Law on the National Bank of Serbia (NBS) and election of ombudsman.

For us it would be best to have this Soskic obviously be dismissed because he did nothing to calm the exchange rate against the euro.

Government trying to exercise direct political control over an institution that is supposed to have at least some independence.

Never mind the constitution and rulebook, never mind standard practice in the developed world. We want a politician to run the National Bank of Serbia! Sad and a step backwards...
