Bujanovac and Vojvodina are no problem whatsoever. I've seen those albos there behave continuously, and there is no threat there at all. We will not succumb to pressure forever, and as long as we keep a tight grip on the north of our province, we will soon enough liberate the rest. Only deal is to give autonomy to our province, and thats it. If you think that the fake govt in Pristina has earned some sort of right, you should seriously go take a walk and clear your head. Whether anyone likes it or not, no one in the EU sees anything productive from this illegal declaration. Criminals, trafficking, murder charges, organ removal, this is all that you have seen or heard from this fake declared stae. Who in their right mind, French, German, Dutch, Italian wants to see these guys at their meetings or at their government buildings. Answer is no one. Why should Serb accept division of Kosovo? Kosovo belong to Serbs, it is their land and their territory, its just under occupation at this moment. By accepting separation they will accept occupation as legit. But I also think that there should be serbian police and army in the north of kosovo (resolution 1244) because so far NATO and KFOR just listen Pristina and didnt protect Serbs. Remember 2004!! I'm not totally against the partition of KiM on the condition that partition of BiH and Croatia is also on the agenda.

Gerard Gallucci usually is very onesided. He was during his time as an UMNIK peackeeper in Northern Mitrovica, and has been ever since. Certainly not somebody who is helpful to defuse the situation, and certainly does not have the credibilty needed in order to be accepted by both sides. His remarks concerning the current situation just show his onesidedness once more, and by doing so he disqualifies himself once again.

No partition will take place in Kosovo, Bosnia or Croatia. Serbia needs to worry about Vojvodina in that case, also Presevo the valley of majority Albanians Bujanoc etc. Once again Serbia is in no position to propose any partition. All there is left to do deport illegal Serbians crossing the border into Kosovo and causing tensions and problems.

Galluccis judgement is very poor. He proposes only a shifting of the problem, without solving it and making it even worse. Actually, when analyzed more carefully, his proposal would not only freeze the conflict but put in concrete. What is the point of shifting borders (which is unlikely at best), when Serbia would still not recognize the South of Kosovo? Not even under best prognosis his ideas would be successful which makes it obvious that he is not interested in solving the conflict.

I read Galluccis statements from time to time and came to the conclusion that this guy simply acts out of emotion. There is no other explanation for his unsteady and not stringent position.

What makes you think that Albanians in Serbia will not qet their rights. If Serbs in Kosovo push for autonomy or changing of borders the international community will not allow for any changes of borders or any such moves. As for now the barricades are going to be put down and Serbian parallel structures be dissolved. The NATO troops presence in that region has increased and they will not go away until their goal is accomplished. The increase in NATO troops in northern Kosovo has caused for the Russian diplomats in Serbia to say that NATO is accomplishing the dream for Greater Albania by trying to get Pristina control in northern Kosovo.

The reality is that NATO has had enough of these Serbian rebels in northern Kosovo and believes that especially after the Serbian elections to come up with a solution by firstly taking off the barricades which are an obstacle, then put up with any resistance which surely will not last long.

As for the Serbs living in Serbia i think that NATO will pay little attention to them as it is quite used to them by now.

Jovan, if you are going to criticize someone on their command of English, I recommend that you first improve your grammar. ;) Having said that, I think that the point of comments in this forum is not to show our excellence in language, but rather to provide insight into our points of view about articles which are published.

Compromise is likely required in the current situation between Kosovo and Serbia, which means both sides will have to give something. Kosovo already has much more than autonomy (an entire government, taxation, control of borders, and so on), but less than full international recognition (UN membership, etc.) and little control of the north.

The only likely compromise solution would be full recognition by Serbia of Kosovo, with northern Kosovo either being almost entirely autonomous within Kosovo or becoming annexed to Serbia, almost certainly in exchange for part of eastern Serbia.

Sadly, what operation Storm, Maestral, Deliberate Force, Allied Force showed was that the Serb elite are only responsive to force. The fact that Nikolic hasn't connected the loss of Kosovo with Serbia's breach of the genocide convention (Bosnia v Serbia Judgement ICJ) is telling of a wider malaise of nationalist denial or indifference in Serbia - cf taglines that glorify the Srebrenica genocide "noz, zica, Srebrenica" (knife, wire, Srebrenica).

One can't help but feel sorry for the critical mass of people in Serbia that have not made the connection between the imperial policies of their state and the poor standard of living and general malaise of the country. The people are lost and they need moral guidance thus it is tragic that the Orthodox Church seems to have been on the bandwagon of a Greater Serbia concept that is typified by enemy-centrism rather than promoting Christian humanism, even if it means a more ecumenical approach.

Jovan, no offense intended, just a little good-natured jab...

Compromise is not my idea. It is Serbia who has been talking about how the only path forward was compromise (non-stop) for the past few years. I was just saying that if you compromise, starting from where we are now, Kosovo will have to move even more towards independence. If you want to negotiate, you have to give something. Kosovo will have to give huge amounts of autonomy to the north.

I am not expecting that you will necessarily agree, but rather I suggest that you just wait a while and see what happens.

Partition of Kosovo seems to be the best solution possible, with Kosovo south of Ibar and Albania simultaneously allowed to unite in Greater Albania.

Kosovo Albanians have had a lot of time to prove that they wouldn't discriminate against the ethnic minorities living in Kosovo and that Serbs can live safely in Kosovo. They failed to prove that.

What makes you think that Albanians in Serbia will not qet their rights. If Serbs in Kosovo push for autonomy or changing of borders the international community will not allow for any changes of borders or any such moves. As for now the barricades are going to be put down and Serbian parallel structures be dissolved. The NATO troops presence in that region has increased and they will not go away until their goal is accomplished. The increase in NATO troops in northern Kosovo has caused for the Russian diplomats in Serbia to say that NATO is accomplishing the dream for Greater Albania by trying to get Pristina control in northern Kosovo.

The reality is that NATO has had enough of these Serbian rebels in northern Kosovo and believes that especially after the Serbian elections to come up with a solution by firstly taking off the barricades which are an obstacle, then put up with any resistance which surely will not last long.

As for the Serbs living in Serbia i think that NATO will pay little attention to them as it is quite used to them by now.

Let serbs and albanians fight for Kosovo. This time without NATO intervention. Serbs need 2-3 hours at the most. Then we won't have discusions like this.

Galluccis judgement is very poor. He proposes only a shifting of the problem, without solving it and making it even worse. Actually, when analyzed more carefully, his proposal would not only freeze the conflict but put in concrete. What is the point of shifting borders (which is unlikely at best), when Serbia would still not recognize the South of Kosovo? Not even under best prognosis his ideas would be successful which makes it obvious that he is not interested in solving the conflict.

I read Galluccis statements from time to time and came to the conclusion that this guy simply acts out of emotion. There is no other explanation for his unsteady and not stringent position.

Why should Serb accept division of Kosovo? Kosovo belong to Serbs, it is their land and their territory, its just under occupation at this moment. By accepting separation they will accept occupation as legit. But I also think that there should be serbian police and army in the north of kosovo (resolution 1244) because so far NATO and KFOR just listen Pristina and didnt protect Serbs. Remember 2004!! Albanians attack Serbs, burn churches, kill people! Remember that!

I'm not totally against the partition of KiM on the condition that partition of BiH and Croatia is also on the agenda.

Considering the number of angry, fearful, and pissed off Albanian comments that offer no other alternative solution, I'd say Gallucci hit one too many truths they know but refuse to acknowledge. Too bad. They had years to come up with something for Kosovo other than "do as we say or we'll riot." :)

Bujanovac and Vojvodina are no problem whatsoever. I've seen those albos there behave continuously, and there is no threat there at all. Nor nothing to worry about, esp with the Serb base right there in case of emergencies. You are living in a fantasy world. And yes.. Serbs do hold the bargaining chip, who are you kidding? We will not succumb to pressure forever, and as long as we keep a tight grip on the north of our province, we will soon enough liberate the rest. Jovan, if you are going to criticize someone on their command of English, I recommend that you first improve your grammar. ;) Having said that, I think that the point of comments in this forum is not to show our excellence in language, but rather to provide insight into our points of view about articles which are published.

Compromise is likely required in the current situation between Kosovo and Serbia, which means both sides will have to give something. Kosovo already has much more than autonomy (an entire government, taxation, control of borders, and so on), but less than full international recognition (UN membership, etc.) and little control of the north.

The only likely compromise solution would be full recognition by Serbia of Kosovo, with northern Kosovo either being almost entirely autonomous within Kosovo or becoming annexed to Serbia, almost certainly in exchange for part of eastern Serbia.

I'm not totally against the partition of KiM on the condition that partition of BiH and Croatia is also on the agenda.

Sadly, what operation Storm, Maestral, Deliberate Force, Allied Force showed was that the Serb elite are only responsive to force. The fact that Nikolic hasn't connected the loss of Kosovo with Serbia's breach of the genocide convention (Bosnia v Serbia Judgement ICJ) is telling of a wider malaise of nationalist denial or indifference in Serbia - cf taglines that glorify the Srebrenica genocide "noz, zica, Srebrenica" (knife, wire, Srebrenica).

One can't help but feel sorry for the critical mass of people in Serbia that have not made the connection between the imperial policies of their state and the poor standard of living and general malaise of the country. The people are lost and they need moral guidance thus it is tragic that the Orthodox Church seems to have been on the bandwagon of a Greater Serbia concept that is typified by enemy-centrism rather than promoting Christian humanism, even if it means a more ecumenical approach.

Jovan, no offense intended, just a little good-natured jab...

Compromise is not my idea. It is Serbia who has been talking about how the only path forward was compromise (non-stop) for the past few years. I was just saying that if you compromise, starting from where we are now, Kosovo will have to move even more towards independence. If you want to negotiate, you have to give something. Kosovo will have to give huge amounts of autonomy to the north.

I am not expecting that you will necessarily agree, but rather I suggest that you just wait a while and see what happens.

@Glenn: I didn´t feel offended. I just think that there is a big difference between my mistakes and those made by some of our k-albanian friends here. and actually, they should be speaking english way better than they are doing it here... since it is their masters language.. at least the albanian girls who are so desperately trying to be "translators" in order to get into a relationship with some westerner ... you know, ...in order to get out of KiM and let this crippled society behind.

anyway, there is nothing to give to the k-albanians except guarantees that those Albanians who have not participated in hate-crimes against Serbs and those who belong to minorities in Serbia can stay in southern Serbia. all others who are caught on film, or where is any kind of evidence that they have done something of that kind... will have to look for a better future in Albania or somewhere else - because KiM is and will be serbian in the future.
