Sreten - They sure did raise a lot of dust!
=============================

Wesley, you really have a hard time understanding what was being said.
It was the elephants alone who rose the dust. The mice had NOTHING to do with it just like KLA did nothing. It was NATO who did it.
Why do you keep on embarrassing yourself? You had not contributed anything towards Serbs leaving and here you are taking credit for NATO'S work. Pathetic.

Sreten - They sure did raise a lot of dust! In total, NATO air forces launched 38,004 combat sorties against Serbian positions in the KLA War of Liberation. NATO brought the best and latest aircraft into the mix and ejected Serbia from Kosova with the aid of the KLA ground forces that called in airstrikes. Now, there is a beautiful American base there that provides Kosova's outsourced military. Kind of like in South Korea....South Koreans are flourishing while the USA provides protection. Its simply business Sreten.

Bill has one good point though. It's increasingly clear that we can't have it both.

It's enough to read Lajcak's words.

""Many representatives in Serbia have tried to find a balance between the national interest in European integration and this issue," noted Lajčak, and added that this was "no longer a progressive method".

Finding a balance between the national interest and European integration is no longer a progressive method. We have to choose one and forget the other.

"According to the Slovak diplomat who visited Belgrade last week, "full focus on accession to the EU will be necessary in order to succeed".

I would focus on our national interests and forget EU accession.

Sreten

Economan.

EU is not making it official demand to recognize Kosovo, but it's not hard to read between the lines.

You can't have it both ways. Your NATIONAL INTERESTS and EU INTEGRATION.

"full focus on accession to the EU will be necessary in order to succeed"

If you don't forget your national interest there will be no EU accession no matter how hard you try.
Let's not be delusional. At one point we have to give up one or the other. I would give up EU. Especially as it really isn't the place of milk and honey any more, and it's true that we will not join any time soon. For at least 10 years.

Read what Americans think.

I wouldn't be in a hurry to join another Yugoslavia, having in mind how the first two ended.

FFS, the 'EU' keeps on placing cross-roads in front of Serbia at will to manipulate it's democratic process in the EU's favor. Would there be any mention of 'cross-roads' if Tadic has won?

No.

It us only because Nikolic won that this has suddenly come up, another informal condition on the road to membership, which shows that despite their proclamations of non interference in Serbia's internal democratic process, they are in fact still meddling, hence Lajack's squealing here and Spinediggler's squealing yesterday. They are anti-democratic scum.

The pro-Serbian camp in EU is extremely strong.

EU has not problems to keep Albanian status candidacy frozen for over 3 years now but it is very worried if Serbia's progress could be delay due to the fact that Serbs elected a chetnik for their president- who for the first interview did not miss the chace to claim territorial pretensions towards Croatia and Bosnia and considered prodly all the deeds in Kosova during the 90s.

What they have in common with EU values that EU cannot freeze Serbia’s progress for 4 yrs just as it is doing to Albania. will anyone in Tirana make this question to Bruxel??? it is due time i think...

One must be very stupid to want to join a failing EU community at this point in time.

First of all, he says; ""the EU wants to continue its open approach toward Serbia in line with the country's European future."

Then he gives an order: ""Serbia must carry out the necessary reforms for EU membership and that a key criterion was "the normalization of relations and dialogue with Priština"".

Yeah, this second statement sure is an open approach toward Serbia!!!

Who is this guy trying to fool??

"Serbia once again at crossroads"

That title is simply misleading. To say that would assert that Serbia moved forward and was making progress. Serbia is exactly where it has always been...promoting nationalist rhetoric with bits and pieces of threats coupled with wholesale propaganda at its finest. And again, the Serbian public like the sheep that they are...love it. Why else was Nikolic elected. They love that old school tough guy talk just like they loved it when Milosevic did it. Nothing has changed...only the calender year.

Bill, hold on a bit, and let the election smoke clear before you pull out the heavy artillery. Why does Serbia have to recognize Kosovo as an independent Albanian State? Even the EU is not making that demand - they talk of dialogue and friendly relations. Do you really think that if a Serbian president, or government, recognized an independent KiM, that it would solve all the Balkans' problems? The EU is certainly not the place of milk and honey anymore, just ask the Greeks, and soon the Spaniards. Serbia is not joining that Union any time soon, so it has all the time in the world with that issue, regardless of what mr. Lancak says.

European Union Officials speak of Serbia’s European Future, but they should use the Term Union unless the European Union is over.

Serbia is in Europe and will always have a European Future, and the European Union Officials no longer use the term European Union, because they know that the European Union will soon be History.

Perhaps Miroslav Lajcak estimated that this year could be a turning point for Serbia’s European History, because the European Union will soon be History.

Serbia would love to make reforms, but it does not have the Money until the Economic Depression is over, unless the Europe (I mean the European Union) suggests that Serbia should default on all IMF, World Bank, and European investment Bank loans, and borrows the Money from Euro Bonds.

Serbia will never t recognize Kosovo ever under any conditions, because the Serbian People if want the European Union to further to rub Kosovo into their own faces, and that is their decision, because lies will be uncovered one day.

The time has come to tell the Albanians that they have Autonomy based on word for word of the United Nations Six Point Plan for Kosovo.

President Nikolic and Serbia need to Seriously get some United General Assembly Motions going, that condemns threats by the European Union and others to violently steal Serbia’s Land.

Serbia needs to make Endless Complaints and Much Noise to European Union Institutions, and o their Court with Criminal Charges of threats by these European Dictators.

This is a nice way of saying that Serbia needs to drop its position on KiM and finally play ball and acquiesce to the EU's overall demand to recognize Kosovo*. Funny that a Slovak would make such a statement, but look who he works for now (and remember he was the previous HR in Bosnia).

the thumb screws are on, and it is time to turn them a few times, and make Belgrade aware of the fact that it is not alone in this world. It is time, to really put the heat on Belgrade, and make it regognize the reality on the Balkans. Kosovo is one of them, the most important one, and Belgrade has to be faced with the decisssion to either give up his territorial demands on Kosovo and join the EU, or simply forget about it, and with it all the money that comes from Europe. If Begrade thinks it can play hard in this like the first comments from Nicolic suggest, it should be put into its place right away, and if it wants to, let Serbia go and be an ally of Russia. To even play this card, as Nicolic did in the past, shows that he has no understanding of what democracy means.

Europe is starting to look more and more like (yet again) an aggressor against Serbia. What crossroads? Nothing has happened yet with Nikolic and these guys are feeling uncertain..
