What conspiracy theories are you talking about??? My statements are based on facts that have been around since the dawn of man – it’s called MONEY. Who ever tells you otherwise is a fool.

In the old Yugoslavia Croatia and Slovenia were the two richest economies without a doubt, as Tito tried to keep the Slovenes happy and his countrymen reasonably happy.

Serbia’s economy was destroyed by the forces of niceness and goodness during the 1990s so let’s not compare apples with pears for now. But I and many others have always have had problems believing western-based data and it was proven in 2008 when the GFC hit.

Ask any economist, what makes for a good, sound and strong economy. The answer is the holy trinity of economics; resources, manufacturing and tourism and if you don’t have all three then you have to be something like Switzerland (this is more difficult than one can imagine so we will leave it to one side). On top you have to have cheap sources of energy i.e. electricity.

If a country does not have the holy three it is either being propped up or its special area of income has not been hit yet. In the case of Croatia and Slovenia, both rely on tourism very heavily and as this form of income can be very fickle as seen since 2008, it means they live off EU handouts. Tourism only lasts 3 to 4 months of the year so what do they do for the rest of the time? I watched a program on HTV and they were asking locals why they don’t train in hospitality, one young man said what is the point as “I have to study up to 3 years and then I’ll have a job for 4 months at best so what do I do for the rest of the time?”

I strongly suggest and wholeheartly encourage you and others to watch HTV Dnevnik and see how life is a joy in Croatia. Its their TV service not mine. A day does not go by without an industry being closed down and people complaining that their wages have not been paid for months – if you did not know that is not a good sign for the local economy.

The Croats have been told by the EU that they must cooperate with Serbia and I have seen it even in European newspapers. Croatia is no longer able to borrow at cheap rates as its already too far in debt and the EU will not allow it to do so either. They made some very bad decsions in constructing roads and no one uses.

“as for Kosova, I really do not know who to believe here. some on this thread say Kosova is obscenely rich in resources, which is why the US is there. Marko Gasic (that very known Serb commentator in London) even went as far as to say Kosova has 500 YEARS of untapped wealth in it. seriously, make up your minds, either kosova is forever a poor area or one of the richest. oh and erm, yes this DOES represent a MASSIVE climbdown from Serbia”

if you dig deep enough in any continent on this earth you will strike pay dirt. However, the difference is what will it cost you to bring that wealth to the surface. For example if you dig deep enough in Kosovo you will get oil, but when it will cost you $700 a barrel to do so and you can buy the same for $104, you can work it out for yourself.

I can tell you right now that I can bring coal that is mined in Western Australia, have it washed, crushed into powder placed on a ship and delivered to any port in Albania cheaper than you can dig it out in Kosovo. Forget what they say in London as most of it is pure BS. They are fanning the faithful with hope. Don’t you think Tito would have used this wealth to his advantage?

What you maybe thinking about is coal seem gas or fracking where drilling into the earth then pouring chemicals to release the gas, but I would be very careful about that one as Kosovo is a very small area and what little water resources it has will be poisoned and the excess water pumped out of the ground is very saline – read up about it.

I earn my living for this stuff and I can tell you that Kosovo is a dirt poor region. Ask yourself why have the west not invested in Kosovo in the last 13 years??? The only reason Serbs are attached to that area is because of their history otherwise they would have let Kosovo go a very long time ago.

I am seriously thinking that you honestly believe your conspiracy theories. I do not know if you're actually aware of the fact that Croatia has a LARGER economy than Serbia. read it up. it can feed itself and more. during the existence of Yugoslavia, Slovenia and Croatia were the two RICHEST Republics of the Federation. this is common knowledge. now please point out to me, when the EU has instructed Croatia to be more economically cooperative with Serbia.
now, there is sidebar on b92 called economic crisis in Serbia, click on it and see how well its doing.

as for Kosova, I really do not know who to believe here. some on this thread say Kosova is obscenely rich in resources, which is why the US is there. Marko Gasic (that very known Serb commentator in London) even went as far as to say Kosova has 500 YEARS of untapped wealth in it. seriously, make up your minds, either kosova is forever a poor area or one of the richest. oh and erm, yes this DOES represent a MASSIVE climbdown from Serbia

. I seriously love your optimism, no matter how bad the news, you always look at it in a nationalistic bent. i would say congrats. but i do not believe denial is a good thing. let us examine what is REALLY going on (i'm going to ignore your analysis as it makes ZERO sense). concession has been made to NOT hold elections in Kosova , a part of Serbia apparently. now, why would Serbia, a sovereign state, cut of one chunk of its people fro the electoral list? why? however you look at it, this is a BIG climb down for a state that loudly and boldly and boringly asserts that Kosova is still Serbia. its OK sj, you can see good news in Krajina too, though i'm rather surprised at the lack of mention of the word 'strategic' in your post
(Nikolle, 2 April 2012 10:21)

Why would I be concerned about Krajina? Have a long and hard look at who rules in Croatia today. It’s certainly not the Croats but try the Serbs. Why do you think the EU has changed regimes in Croatia???? Why do you bethink that the EU is forcing Croatia to have closer trading relations with Serbia or for that matter Slovenia? Because they can’t survive on their own – no one has survived on tourism alone that is why. The EU is out of the Holy Euros.
Now to Kosovo. What the f… are local elections mate? Serbia can hold parliamentary and even Presidential but not local. Wow, I am stunned. Now if your lot was as free as you claim why would they allow “parliamentary and possibly presidential elections in Kosovo, noting that “even Priština” showed some understanding”?????? You have to learn the very hard way of what is going on. Kosovo cannot survive on its own and a slow reintegration is beginning so compromise on both sides. If you don’t understand how the world works just follow the money trail as everything revolves around money.

Let me state the bleeding obvious. B92 is a Serbian-based news agency; once again, it’s a Serbian based news agency. Why are you guys drawn to B92 like a moth to a flame? I feel comfortable making my statements as I do so in a Serbian-based news organization as do many other people who feel they are Serbs. If you have any problems with this please don’t access B92. Yeah, it is a shame that those who have chosen to live life to the most in other countries(all who have recognized Kosovo and encouraging Serbia to move on) have such a big say in the future of Serbia.
Those that want to keep it kind of like a museum showcasing the history of Serbia so Serbs around the world can visit every few years and get their ethnic pride boost and then return to the real world making wages close to or more than those in Serbia. Those who want to push those locked in Serbia closer to the wonderful worlds of Russia and China, the great friends of Serbs. But do you see anyone commenting on here that actually have moved to those places.
Maybe you should create T-shirts and sell them, "There is no sacrifice too great for the residents of Serbia to make for pride of the Diasporia"
(do as I say not as I do, 2 April 2012 12:06)

Firstly, the vast majority of Serbs or descendants of those migrants who went to western countries moved there when the west meant something in both words and deeds and I for one fall into that category as I and two other siblings are descendents of a Serb immigrant, but our mother is a local Australian girl.

It seems that you Albanians have a problem reading or perhaps dyslexia is rampant amongst you guys. I can’t recall anyone saying that they moved or great masses are moving to Russia or China, but I do recall people stating that these are the new rising powers. China is further down the track than Russia so they have Americans living and working there as they also have Australians and New Zealanders etc.

On the issue of recognition of Kosovo, I asked an Australian politician about that one and he just replied – the US says jump the rest say how high, but it’s meaningless as no one cares about Kosovo, its all to do with US pride. He went on to say that the US got it just as wrong as it did in Iraq but they would, and get this part, “look foolish backing down now as it would cost them billions”.

But if you see it as something more than this let me know how your western friends have helped you in your quest to find work for the locals living in Kosovo or even better tells us all how Pristina survives from the taxes it raises.

“There is no sacrifice too great for the residents of Serbia to make for pride of the Diasporia"

What Bogdanovic is doing here is testing the waters and not with Serbs in Serbia but the Diaspora as Tadic fears them more than anyone else. It is they who can bring him undone and always remember he screws Serbia where is he going to live? In the west, but will have anything to do with him from the Serb side?

Let’s remind you Albanians what is really going on here. When the EU official came to Belgrade late last week he said several important things.

First Belgrade does not have to recognise Pristina but continue talking to it. Secondly, and this is something that is not publicized widely by the freedom loving western press, Belgrade is to allow Albanian trolls to travel freely throughout Serbia and look for work.

Thirdly, Serbia should encourage, or in plain English, subsidise incoming industry to open in Kosovo. For example, what the EU is asking is that with Fiat expanding in Kragujevac a factory should be opened in Kosovo to soak up some of the unemployed.

Read this very carefully again and tell me how Kosovo will be independent.

Some may recall the Australian Steve Pratt and Branko Jelen arrested in Serbia over spying in Kosovo. Well Jelen arrived in Australia and no one from the Serbs wanted to have anything to do with him – he had to return home.

Well, it seems that Goran B. has become UNMIK's little lap dog. Now he is, voluntarily, agreeing not to violate UNSC Res.#1244 by not having local elections in Kosova. I guess we won't be anticipating anymore playtime with logs to block roads. Serbia might have to send masked elite forces to Northern Kosova in order to prevent restless Serb villagers from creating roadblocks. I wonder who gets shot first, Serb villagers or masked Serb forces. Wait a minute, Serb forces are not allowed in Kosova. I guess these masked Serb forces will just have to remain on the Serb side of the border, but they can still take pot shots at disruptive Serb villagers within Kosova.

What I don't understand is that all this energy is given to 2 police being taken hostage or crossing the line?

Why is no one Paying attention to the fact that the north will be without elected representatives locally and that is what ahtisari plan is all about. Soon the representatives will be chosen from eu and the Kosova government will have all the north under control.

Oops I think I know the answer to my question above. The Serbian government is trying to divert your attention to some silly thing like 2 cops getting kidnaped or arrested.

“Local elections most likely won’t be held in Kosovo”

That was even before clear, but after yesterday's events you can kiss it goodbye. KPS will use means necessary to make it sure. They are encouraged to do this more than ever and are looking forward to May.

Hasta la vista, baby!

Some may recall the Australian Steve Pratt and Branko Jelen arrested in Serbia over spying in Kosovo. Well Jelen arrived in Australia and no one from the Serbs wanted to have anything to do with him – he had to return home.

Goran you are not smiling now, are you!
