You guys got it all wrong. Bosniak dates to 1994 when a convention of Islamic leaders in Sarajevo agreed upon their name. After all, Tvrtko was "King of the Serbs (people) and Bosnia (region)."

The Balkans are now an absolute breeding ground for invented traditions. To further illustrate, Montenegro's national costume was invented by Petar Njegoš to turn wearers into Serbian tricolor flags. Still, Montenegrins, like Bosniaks, are today "nations."

Bosnian Muslim and western (uniformed) historians trace "Bosniaks" back to Bogomils, which began in Bulgaria, but they aren't calling themselves Bosniaks today.

There is an interesting film on the question of Serb and Muslim identity called "Noz" (The Knife), the whole film is on Youtube with English subtitles.
Emir Kusturica was quoted as saying that he could trace his family back to Serbs, but that people had only converted to Islam because they had to. He was baptised Orthodox a few years back, if I remember correctly.

Who the hell is this clown? He's supposedly running for Ugljanin's party, yet I've never heard of him before, so I'm just going to assume that he's some random idiot from Novi Pazar with an opinion.

The Bosniaks are more loyal to the Islamist religion and Turkey - they wave the Turkish flags at sporting events.
Serbs were in Bosnia long, long before the Muslim religion came and the area became impoverished, more backward and more troubled once Islam spread to the region.
The historical "Bosniak" mosques were Turkish-built - and sometimes on top the ruins of a destroyed Serbian churches and monasteries.

Husain,

All people in Bosnia are known as Bosniaks!
It is a regional identity!

Ok Serbs in Belgrade also converted to Islam!
Are you going to call these people Bosniaks?
Or Serbs in Nis who converted to Islam are Bosnjaks?
Serbs in Montenegro who converted are also Bosnjaks?
Muslim Serbs in Kosovo are Bosniaks?
Serbs who converted in Novi pazar are bosniaks?
Serbs in Macedonia/Albania who converted to Islam are bosnjaks
Serbs in present day Vojvodina and Hungary who converted to Islam are bosniaks?
(indeed most of these converted Serbs settled in turkey and others converted back to Christianity)

Well that Muslim by nationality, why didnt ALbanians/Turks/Macedonians/Croats/Arbs and all other muslim groups except the serbs use this to express their identity?

Why did only the Serbs Muslims had to be Muslim by Nationality?
You see, you claim that Muslim Serbs are bosnjaks even tough they do not originate in Bosnia.
If you dig deeper in your history you will see that Muslim Serbs knew that they where SERBIAN and wrote in Cyrillic!!

And all people in Bosnia speak the Shtokavian dialect and that is Serbian and nothing else deal with it!!!

What I want to see in the future is that The Bosniaks and Montenegrins refresh themselves and be Serbian again and Orthodox Serbs have to deal with it. we are all Serbs dont let foreign powers divide us!!!!!

Kako ste momci,

I'm astonished at how ignorant you guys really are. Tito? lol tito was actually one of the forerunners in trying to wipe out Bosniak identity. He created the pseudo nationality of 'Musliman' which really doesn't make sense since the term Musliman is denoted to a person who follows Islam. The propaganda that he used is the same propaganda that you are using now but it somehow hasn't dawned on you yet.

Bosniak is a Turkish pronunciation of the term Bosnjanin the slavic way of describing an inhabitant of Medieval Bosnia. So you see fellas the Bosniak identity isn't a recently invented term after all. What you've been taught all these years by your father has been false information. I suggest you do a little bit of sincere research on the subject in order to soothe your hearts and prevent you on making silly comments in the future.

All Bosniaks want is a fair go is that too much to ask?

Can someone please tell me what the hell is a "Bosniak"? Are there Christian "Bosniaks" as well?
(Radovan, 30 March 2012 14:59)

Very good point Radovane. They are basicaly an invented people, invented by Tito to weaken the influence of Serbia. Bosniaks are simply former Serbs who converted to Islam during Turkish rule, and Tito made them a 'nation' - which is a joke, just like their 'Bosnian' language is a joke, and just like their fake country is a joke. One day they will wake up and decide to be Serbs again, just like their great great great great great grandfathers, and all will be well.
Cheers!!

Džudžević is on the election list of Sulejman Ugljanin's Bosniak List for a European Sandžak - B92
Say no more, his statements are meaningless.
(ecoman, 30 March 2012 11:31)

Indeed, what a hypocrite. The guy calls on Bosniaks to boycott Serbia's institutions yet he is running for elections to the (wait for this...) the parliament of the Republic of Serbia.

Seriously, you couldn't make this up. Village Idiot mentality.
